For all occasions: the main types of children's shoes. Membrane snowboards and boots - comfortable footwear for any weather

Winter has come, and in our forum, disputes between imported and domestic footwear lovers do not subside. However, imported footwear and ours in some cases can be reduced to a single manufacturer (with a flirtatious hint, let's call it "southeastern countries").

Evaluating new collections of inexpensive children's shoes, you feel some confusion. Probably no other country in the world has SUCH range of winter boots. Thousands of shades, styles ... the number of rhinestones, embroidery and appliqués goes beyond all imaginable boundaries. It would seem that it is wonderful that it could be better. This article uses the opinions of those who directly work with children's shoes, study their quality and the opinions of consumers.

Monitoring the forums where the owners of children's shoe stores communicate allows you to find out a lot of interesting information hidden from ordinary buyers. After all, sellers collect the most accurate statistics on the quality of a particular shoe - the number of returns, complaints, or vice versa - increased demand. Let's use the advice of shoemakers for the best choice.

For the hundredth time about the choice

No matter how many articles have been written about the choice of winter shoes, how many spears are broken in "forum" communication, and young mothers keep asking and asking. They ask - we answer!

A small selection of tips will help you highlight the main thing.

Don't buy winter shoes for next year. As orthopedic doctors joke: shoes are a necessary evil for the foot. And it is in our power to play down the forces of evil. Winter shoes are chosen 2 sizes larger with the expectation of thick tights or socks. Thus, the free distance should be no more than 1-1.5 cm. Otherwise, the leg will freeze. The child is unstable in too large shoes, it is elementary for him to walk, to feel support: improper walking is a sufficient argument for refusing to buy shoes "for growth."

The sole of a boot or boot should bend easily for the effect of walking barefoot, and shoes with soft soles are less slippery. Sometimes the outsole is welded securely to the shoe. It is desirable that it be made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). This material is classified as non-slip. PVC is considered a good material for the sole, but according to the opinion of the shoemakers (according to the number of complaints from buyers), shoes with a PVC sole are colder and slippery. If the new boots, despite the grooves, still slip, try the following: Apply epoxy glue (or the usual "Moment") to the sole and sprinkle with sand.

Our winter is divided into two "sub-seasons": frost and slush. The experience of recent winters (over 5 years) shows that the slush is becoming more and more, and the situation when -20 in the morning and +2 in the afternoon is no longer surprising. If the child is active enough on the street (over 1.5 years old), he may need two pairs of shoes. If the walk is half-wheelchair-bound, leather boots and felt boots are the best choice. Or snowboots.

What shoes won't the child freeze in? - in the one that is worn for the season, selected in size and corresponds to the individual behavior on a walk.

Domestic "membrane"

"Kotofey" with a membrane, it's like a Zaporozhets with a turbo engine ... "(from the forum)

A few years ago, domestic winter footwear with a membrane appeared. It's more of a tribute to fashion - consumers ask, manufacturers produce. Since the quality of the membrane used in our shoes raises many questions. The membrane is a membrane, and the materials used are all the same cheap. There are so many claims to these shoes that the special properties of the membrane remain somewhere overboard, it is simply pointless to take them into account.

Unfortunately, consumers, "burning" on the domestic "membrane", draw conclusions about membrane footwear in general and about the membrane in particular.

Quality shoes with a membrane cannot be cheap. Alas, but a thousand rubles (1-1.5 thousand) is not the price for guaranteed waterproof and warm shoes. This must be taken into account.

Misunderstanding between the consumer and the manufacturer occurs even at the purchase stage. Our manufacturers in the "passport" attached to the footwear describe the properties of the membrane IN GENERAL. Such properties can be attributed to the best and most expensive Gore-tex membrane (water resistance 20,000 mm), for example, which, of course, domestic firms do not use. Yes, the membrane is the thinnest film that does not let moisture in from the outside, but allows the body to breathe, conducting vapors outside. Yes, shoes with a membrane must be highly waterproof. Let's clarify - we are talking about shoes with expensive membranes such as Gortex or Sympathetic, where high requirements are imposed on any part of the shoe - even the seams are glued from the inside.

At the time of purchase, the consumer sees this information and is confident that he has chosen a waterproof option. At the same time, a huge wave of claims is made against any domestic "membrane" - it gets wet in two cases out of three. And when the buyer tries to hand over the unusable boots back, he meets the bewildered look of the seller - they say, the shoes are winter, in the first place. And secondly, you have to walk through the puddles in rubber boots. And you never know what's hot about the membrane and waterproof. Here's a paradox: the water resistance is high, the membrane is wonderful, and the boots get wet, and nothing can be proved.

Let's do this: the membrane and its high qualities are separate, and our domestic children's boots on the membrane are separate. They can get wet, they can not get wet, that's how lucky.

Everything that is described above is life, there are really a lot of claims, and one cannot be silent about them. It would be interesting to hear the comments of a representative of at least one of our companies, who swung at shoes with a membrane. But so far in their interviews there is still the same advertisement for "cool technologies" written off from the same Gortex, which is an order of magnitude higher in cost and quality.

Do not buy membrane shoes for an inactive child. The principle of operation of the membrane directly depends on the activity. Although there are exceptions in our shoes - for example, membrane "Kotofei" are very hot according to reviews. But basically, for our "membrane" they rightly indicate the temperature regime up to -10 ° C, in contrast to the imported one, which is also worn in frosts.

Boots with a membrane are produced by the following companies: "Antelope", "Kotofey", "Paris Commune", "Zebra", "Kakadu" and others.

They are much cheaper than imported "membranes". In contrast to complaints about waterproofness - otherwise there are few complaints about this shoe, it is hardly suitable for a slushy winter (as luck would have it), but it warms up in dry snowy weather, when autumn finally recedes. Is that on trifles - it is heavy, after one season it loses its appearance. Used materials: textiles, membrane, lining - wool.

Advice from shoemakers: domestic "membranes", especially from firms such as "Zebra" and "Antelope", often have a narrow rise, so they must be carefully tried on and not taken blindly for a child with a chubby leg.

Good reviews from customers about the "membranes" from CrossWay ("Smeshariki", "Disney", "Kakadu").

Finally, a quote from the website of one of the manufacturers: “Our company has developed and included in its demi-season collections shoes with high-tech membranes, which virtually eliminates the likelihood of a runny nose in children.” Jokers!

Price: ~ from 1000 thous.

Dutik

This word should evoke heartbreaking memories from parents: duties came into our lives around the 80s. Then they were not bought, but taken out. In some market (or "flea market") a van with the coveted dutik suddenly appeared - they were snapped up, regardless of color, size and meaning. The first dutik were polls silver, they were also called "lunar rovers". They say that this shoe was invented in Italy. Lunar walkers are sports shoes that you can change into after skiing, for example, skiing. As for the heat-saving qualities of dutik - well, in fact, they should warm up. But, according to the sellers, these shoes are good for European slushy winters with a few "minuses".

Domestic dutik are similar to a hybrid of snowboots and membranes, only without clever manufacturing technologies.

By the way, many people call snowboots - dutik. These are insulated waterproof boots with a textile upper with a polyurethane sole and a fur lining. Moreover, the lining is made of faux fur. The puffers look smart, they are not heavy, do not get wet and can withstand temperatures down to -10 ° C, and then, as luck would have it, someone does not freeze. Such boots are available from the firms "Antelope", "Smeshariki", "Taltex" - and countless number of small "untwisted" shoe factories.

Price: ~ from 300 rubles.

Leather boots with fur

The most familiar shoes. We all know about her, and this is important. Leather boots with fur are worn at temperatures from + 5 ° C to -15 ° C, but this mode (like any temperature conditions for shoes) is very conditional. Leather is breathable, warm, ideal for children's feet, fits well on the foot. But it is also wet, so leather boots need to be periodically treated with water-repellent impregnations. And at a temperature of -15 ° C, an inactive (sitting in a "walk") child in leather boots is likely to freeze.

When choosing, pay attention to models with fur edging along the edge: the fur prevents the penetration of snow into the boot and increases heat conservation. The best sole is TPE (sometimes two-layer), it has good shock-absorbing properties, does not lose elastic properties at low temperatures. Insulation - natural fur.

Price: ~ from 800 rubles.

Snowboards

Insulated multi-layer rubber boots are called snowboats.

The top layer is polypropylene (durable breathable material), the middle layer is thermal foil that reflects heat inside, the bottom is moisture-proof heat-resistant rubber, inside is natural wool felt with the addition of synthetics. The inner woolen "felt boot" is removed.

Snowboats are considered off-season shoes with a temperature range of + 5 / -25. Every year they become more and more popular as a budget and very warm option. Suitable for the very first steps (models with tightening). Many buyers are frightened in advance by the combination of rubber and cold weather, but special heat-resistant rubber is used in snowboots - not the same as in rubber boots. It retains its elastic properties (does not "dubble") in the cold. There is practically no lift, some models come with lacing - you can pull up. The main disadvantage of snowboards is their considerable weight (up to 800 grams, depending on the size). But with the current choice, you can pick up easier models.

The most popular snowboots are produced by the Polish company "Demar". They are well regulated by the leg, insulated with sheepskin, practically have no complaints about quality from consumers.

Also, Zebra has snowboards - and other manufacturers. NS about the observations of shoe sellers, our snowboots may get wet after a while (buyers return them), the same claims were heard in discussions in the forum. The shoes may get wet at the seams.

Price: ~ from 800 rubles.

Felt boots

The best felt boots are the usual market ones - solid, unpainted. They keep warm ideally. In the old days, they were worn not only on the street, but also at home, as felt boots kept the same temperature inside. When wet, sheep wool does not lose its heat-saving properties, providing dry warmth to the feet. Since ancient times, felt boots were considered medical footwear.

Any change in the design of felt boots, as experts say, reduces their properties. But classic felt boots are good for the village, where hardworking janitors do not remove snow to bare asphalt, slush is not so noticeable, and roads are not treated with special chemicals. For the city, the felt boots had to be modernized.

Modern felt boots with rubber soles are, of course, not felt boots, but their relatives. And their temperature regime is narrower, and you can't wear them at home - your feet will sweat. But they still remain a very warm and environmentally friendly option for frost. And what a design! Embroidery, applique, linden closure, colored sole. Galoshes have also changed. By the way, how to say correctly: galoshes or galoshes? And as you wish. This word came into use from the French "galoches" and the German "kaloschen". If earlier galoshes were black, now they are often made transparent. Felt boots (felt boots) are produced by almost all well-known firms - Kotofey, Antelope, Zebra, Lel, Foma.

Felt boots price: ~ from 1000 thous.

Shoemakers' advice: lately there has been a great demand among buyers for colored felt boots, especially white ones. Unfortunately, manufacturers sometimes do not take into account the aesthetics of perception - for example, dark gray felt boots have a bright red sole. There were many complaints about the popular "kotofeyevsky" models - slippery, and the colors for an amateur (mostly "unfashionable" gray). Foma has very good felt boots - non-slip soles, many colors, nice models for boys (which is a rarity).

If you buy scooter boots on the market, be sure to rinse them with your hands, check that the boots are not too hard or too soft. As experts say, “rolling” should be tight. Unfortunately, felt boots for sale in the markets can be "rolled" anywhere and in any way, including from the fact that they scraped along the bottom of the barrel.

Avoid painted models, they look more fun, but the quality can be worse. Put your hand inside the felt boot and feel for rough pellets and bulges. These shoes tend to shrink so you can buy two sizes up. In the width, the felt boots are worn out, and in length, on the contrary, it sits down. Check if there is an unpleasant smell, if there is one, it means that the wool was not washed enough, and this smell cannot be eliminated. Do not dry wet felt boots on the battery - the felt will harden and lose its shape.

A simple rule: so that your feet in felt boots do not freeze, do not wear them when the air temperature is above -10 ° C. Otherwise, the leg will quickly sweat and freeze.

Scooter price: ~ from 600 rubles.

High fur boots

Real high fur boots are sewn from deer paws (kamus), the structure of the fur on the paws is tubular, so the heat is perfectly preserved in the cavities. The sole is felt or rubber, or even none; in this case, high boots are worn like a sock. High fur boots, kitties, pimas - all these are northern shoes, differing in appearance, but the essence is the same: to warm your feet during the period of severe frosts. Therefore, any high fur boots are worn only from -15 ° C. In warmer weather, the leg will sweat and freeze, and in the slush the fur boots will definitely get wet. The price of real high fur boots cannot be low - from 4-5 thousand for a pair of children. Cheap high fur boots will quickly creep out.

Modern industrial high boots are different from real northern shoes, in which you cannot run around the city with its cultivated roads and slush. Therefore, the temperature regime is different, but even in these high boots it will be warm, they also need to be worn only in “felt” weather. Children's high boots are made of genuine leather and natural fur, with a multilayer sole with a felt lining.

They are produced by the firms "Foma", "Panda" - and others. The reviews on high fur boots are positive - the legs are dry, warm, they wear high fur boots on ordinary tights. Due to the high rise, the leg quickly enters the boots, the child can easily put them on on his own. "Cons": heavy footwear, and not universal - strictly for frosts from -10 ° C with wind and below.

Advice from shoemakers: when buying, be sure to probe the fur boots from the inside for rough seams on the instep.

Price: ~ from 1500 thous.

It's no secret that kids just love winter walks, sledding and playing with snow. So that the joy of a frosty winter day is not overshadowed by wet frozen feet, you need to take care of shoes in which the child will be comfortable, dry and warm. Can traditional Russian felt boots protect children's feet from the cold as well as modern winter boots made of high-tech materials do? And what are the pros and cons of modern snowboots? Let's compare these two popular types of children's shoes in today's roundup.

Criteria for comparing boots and snowboards

Choosing the right children's shoes today is not difficult, but in order not to get confused in the variety of styles, materials and styles, it is necessary to determine the requirements for this element of the children's wardrobe:

Children's felt boots - traditional winter shoes

Traditional Russian felt boots fully comply with only the second point of the requirements: natural sheep wool perfectly absorbs and absorbs moisture, and thanks to the thermal insulation properties and the lanolin included in the composition, it does not allow the legs to cool in the cold and overheat in a warm room. For babies who do not walk yet, this option is ideal - the legs are warm and dry, while nothing squeezes or makes them heavier.

For children who are taking their first steps or are already walking on their own, traditional felt boots, complemented by removable silicone orthopedic overshoes, are suitable. The advantages of such shoes:

  • all the properties of classic felt boots are preserved,
  • it is easy to clean and dry,
  • there is no risk that the sole will come off, come off or begin to leak,
  • if a defect occurs on a felt boot or kalosh, there is no need to buy a whole new set.

There is only one minus for children's boots: with improper care, the shoes can shrink or become deformed, and it will be impossible to restore it.

Rubberized felt boots with fur are widely popular - an option in which a rubber sole is securely attached to the upper. Unlike models with galoshes, rubber boots are devoid of the above advantages, but they are also reliable, warm and comfortable.

So, ethno style is very popular now. Shoes created according to old technology in combination with modern materials will help keep children's feet warm and healthy. The most popular brands of felt boots in Russia are Kotofey, Nordmann, Kuoma.

And what about fashionable and high-tech winter boots?

Advantages and disadvantages of children's winter snowboards

Snowboards are improved dutik that are suitable not only for walking on a frosty day on a crisp snowball, but also for extreme winter games in frost and slush. Snowboots differ from dutikers in that they have either a high galosh or a sole with raised sides, so that such shoes do not get wet even when walking in wet snow. In a sense, these are winter rubber boots, which are designed for frost down to -30 degrees.

When buying this type of footwear, you need to pay attention to the operating conditions specified by the manufacturer. This applies not only to the thickness of the insulation, but also to the frost resistance of rubber, which must remain flexible even in extreme cold. The upper material for snowboards must be moisture resistant. Information about this parameter is also indicated by the manufacturer, if he guarantees that, subject to the temperature regime, the child's legs will remain dry.

Another difference between snowboards and cheap dutikos is that between the insulation and the textiles there is a pad of foil material that reflects the heat inward. The same material is also present in the insole to keep warm as much as possible. The only drawback of such shoes is connected with this: the fabric does not breathe, so it is better not to wear snowboats for a long time in mild frosts or during a thaw. Such shoes are more likely an option for extreme cold weather. But there are also variants of snowboards with a membrane - this material, according to the assurances of the manufacturers, both heats and "breathes". In general, read the label! The most popular snowboats are of the brands Reim, Kuoma, Demar, Nordmann, Dune.

Taking care of your snowboards is very simple: after a walk, you can rinse them under running water and dry them on the battery. 1-2 times a season, you can treat the top with a moisture-repellent impregnation. They are quite lightweight, dry quickly and do not deform when wet and during drying. This makes them an excellent replacement for the usual leather shoes that require daily maintenance and regular repairs.

A serious drawback of membrane snowboards is their price: high-quality options cost about one and a half to two times more than boots.

What to choose - overseas snowboats or Russian felt boots?

If funds permit, buy both! Despite some differences, both snowboards and felt boots are perfect for walking in winter. Well, the choice of a specific model depends on the tastes of the parents and the children themselves.

Parents always approach the choice of children's shoes very carefully and deliberately. The comfort of the child depends on this, including on frosty days. Hypothermia of the body, especially the lower extremities, can be fraught with colds and other unpleasant diseases. Also, winter boots should be comfortable and light, so as not to hinder the movement of the child during active games. If leather boots or classic felt boots are perfect for cold weather, then for wet weather it is still better to buy snowboots or membrane shoes.

Snowboards: features, main advantages

The ideal ratio of quality and value allows parents with different income levels to buy snowboats, as these shoes are of excellent quality, durability and strength.

What are snowboards?

Winter boots of this type differ from ordinary shoes in their bulk and thickness of the sole. They are ideal for off-season, harsh or slushy winters.

This is how TM Demar snowboards look like

Snowboards - are made of high-quality textiles and frost-resistant rubber that retains the specified elastic properties in high frost. Depending on the manufacturer and type of snowboots, they are designed for temperatures from +5 to -30 degrees. The thick grooved sole of the snowboots protects from slipping and getting wet, and the inner fur (textile) insert reliably retains heat.

The main advantages of snowboards

The footwear consists of three layers: the outer cover is made of high quality waterproof material; the intermediate layer contains innovative materials that additionally retain heat; interior decoration consists of natural wool or other insulation.

High rubber rim along the entire perimeter of the edging prevents moisture from entering and keeps the original appearance of the shoe for a very long time. All models of boots are very light, which allows the little ones to not feel constrained, having fun running while walking.

The upper water-repellent layer does its job perfectly and does not allow moisture to pass through, even with strong slush.

Snowboards protect kids' feet in harsh weather

The outsole is durable, made of quality thermoplastic rubber. The recommended temperature range for wearing shoes of this brand is up to -30 degrees. If you lift a dense insole made of felt or other materials, you can see hollow cubes inside the boots. This is done so that a thermal insulation layer is created between the sole and the child's foot.

However, you should be aware that you should not deliberately walk in puddles in snowboots. For these purposes, it is better to purchase rubber boots with insulation. See snowboots.

Winter boots made of membrane - comfortable protection from bad weather

Membrane shoes is a stylish, comfortable and high-tech new generation footwear that stays dry and warm in any weather. The latest developments in the light industry are used in the manufacture of footwear.

Membrane shoes from TM Kotofey

The main differences between Membrane Shoes:

  • Amazing protection from getting wet! Membrane made of hydrophobic polymer. Does not get wet, is not blown out, breathes well.
  • The unique outsole and special tread pattern guarantee perfect traction on any surface, even on ice.
  • Durability. Shoes designed for harsh weather conditions and aggressive environment (temperature changes, salts, reagents). Easy to care for, extremely resistant to bending, the shoe retains its original appearance for a long time.

What is Membrane?

Membrane Is a universal protection against cold and moisture. You can see the models.

The membrane is a microporous material. Each of its square centimeters has 1.4 billion tiny pores. These pores are about 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, and therefore moisture from the outside is not able to penetrate inside. But on the other hand, the membrane allows steam to pass freely, since its pores are about 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, so that steam (sweat) can freely escape from the shoe. The membrane, even at high physical activity, provides a quick removal of water vapor (sweat) and, accordingly, a pleasant "microclimate" in the shoe. Thus, the membrane is considered a "breathable" material with high water resistance.

Membrane shoe technology

Main features of membrane winter shoes:

  • temperature range boots made of this material are usually between 0 ° C and -30 ° C. But still, in severe frosts (below -15 ° C), it is imperative to additionally insulate the legs - wear socks or special fur insulation. Naturally, this will reduce the moisture-wicking properties of the membrane, but will guarantee that the child will be warm;
  • hot air can damage the membrane , therefore, it is unacceptable to dry products made of this material near radiators, fireplaces, and other sources of heat. It is best to leave the boots at room temperature after washing, after filling them from the inside with soft paper;
  • do not wear tights or cotton socks under membrane shoes ... This material perfectly absorbs and retains moisture, so when the leg in such socks sweats, they immediately become wet, the child will quickly freeze. It is better to buy thermos or synthetic tights, synthetics are excellent at letting in vapors, which will then come out through the pores of the membrane. For the same reason, the fur of the boots must be artificial;
  • the membrane itself does not heat , but only keeps you warm. Therefore, such boots are suitable exclusively for children who actively move on the street.

Good footwear is important not only for the comfort of your child's movement. Specialists of the online store "Dochki-Sinochki" note that at an early age, this part of the wardrobe also affects the formation of the skeleton. Therefore, of course, every parent wants his child to run in comfortable, breathable, orthopedically correct, very desirable - beautiful and (it would be really good!) Inexpensive shoes.

There are winter, summer and spring-autumn (demi-season) shoes. At first glance, it may seem that it is enough to buy one pair for each season to cover the child's needs for shoes, but this is not the case. Specialists of the Dochki-Sinochki store tell you how to choose children's shoes depending on their purpose.

Winter shoes

What type of footwear is needed for the winter - leather boots or boots? There are also felt boots and ugg boots, also marked as "winter". And also - "membrane", snowboots and puffy boots or ankle boots.

Another common problem when choosing winter children's shoes: how to guess the size? As a general rule, boots should not be longer than a foot than by one or two sizes: a child will find it uncomfortable to walk in shoes that are too spacious, and besides, his legs will probably freeze. Read more about this in the article at the link provided.

Table 1. Winter shoes
Shoe type Temperature regime Wearing conditions
Leather boots and boots up to –20 ° С (less often - up to –30 ° С) Slush is not particularly "useful" for leather boots, but they tolerate moisture well and, as a rule, do not get wet (depending on the quality of leather manufacturing and its processing). Designed to be worn in snow and frost down to –20 ° С.
Felt boots down to -30 ° С Not designed to be worn in slush. Feet stay warm in cold weather, and you can wear felt boots even with a slight minus and high humidity: these shoes provide pleasant warmth.
Ugg boots up to -5 ... -20 ° С from different manufacturers Ugg boots are used in the same conditions as felt boots: dry frost and snow. They do not tolerate slush: if the child gets into a puddle, the legs will be wet.
Snowboards down to -5 ° С Dirt, high humidity, water and snow, snowboats do not care. They are easy to care for and keep warm well at temperatures around zero and in a little frost.
Dutik down to -10 ° С Comfortable shoes in a sporty design for wearing in wet snow and slush. If inflated boots are a membrane filled with a woolen lining or artificial fur, then such shoes can easily cope with a frost of -30 ° C.
Membrane shoes from +5 to –10 ° С Wet snow, ice, light frost and cold off-season are ideal weather for wearing membrane shoes. When choosing a "membrane" we look at the lining and filler: thin textile boots are designed to be worn in the specified temperature range. A warmer version on fur or wool, with a filler, worn in cold weather down to –30 ° С.

Leather boots

Warm winter boots with high tops keep your child warm in cold weather. The lining of these boots is fur or woolen. These are natural footwear, traditionally in good demand among parents. This demand is understandable: the skin is elastic, "breathes" and provides a good fit on the leg.

The main disadvantage of leather shoes is that for mobile children, in a slight frost, they will be too warm, and even for long walks in shopping centers, the child will have to change: it will be very hot in leather shoes.

The main manufacturers of winter leather shoes: Elegami, Zebra.

Felt boots

Valenki made of natural wool were very fond of parents for their ability to always keep the child's legs warm. Modern boots-felt boots are quite functional: as a rule, they have a flexible sole, there is a leather toe protection, a comfortable fastener (Velcro or zipper).

These shoes are made of felt or felt: the former is smoother, thinner and more beautiful. Felt felt boots are often referred to as demi-season shoes, while the felt analogue is designed to be worn in winter. The warmest felt boots are those that, in addition to the outer woolen felted layer, have an inner wool insulation.

Major manufacturers: Kotofey, Mio Sole, Thomas.

Ugg boots

There is no consensus among parents as to whether ugg boots are good as winter shoes for a child. Practice shows that many children are really comfortable in these shoes, but they are not (read more in the article at the link provided).

Most often, ugg boots are sewn from leatherette. The moisture-repellent properties of such boots depend on the quality of the materials and the specifics of the impregnation, but mostly ugg boots are designed to be worn in dry weather, frost, and snow.

Judging by customer reviews, some wear ugg boots with artificial fur down to –15… –20 ° С and do not freeze; others, even at -5 ° C, will prefer to put on warmer shoes on the child. The ability to warm the legs of each model depends on the materials from which it is sewn: there are thin shoes designed for the fall, and there are boots with a thick layer of fur, designed to be worn in cold weather.

Pay attention to the sole: its tread is categorically not suitable for wearing on ice, but you can wear ugg boots to move on trampled snow and cleaned city sidewalks. The exceptions are models equipped with an anti-slip pattern on the sole.

Main manufacturers: Jump-Skok, El Tempo.

Snowboards

Modern three-layer boots with overshoes made of waterproof material - usually EVA or another dense polymer material, less often - PVC (more often referred to as "rubber", but today real rubber is used extremely rarely in the footwear industry). The upper, including the bootleg, has a textile outer layer - usually polypropylene - that allows the feet to breathe. The second layer (membrane) is responsible for moisture insulation.

The inner (insulating) sock is removable: it is designed to keep warm. Insulation can be different, most often from wool. Usually snowboats are worn at temperatures around freezing, in slush and mud, and in the snow. They do a good job with ice. It is believed that snowboots are designed to be worn at temperatures down to –5… –10 ° С, but many mobile children wear them in temperatures down to –20 ° С and do not freeze.

Important advantages of snowboards are ease of care and ease of putting on: a child in the garden will be able to quickly take them off and put on.

Main manufacturers: Demar.

Dutik

These are boots or ankle boots of a sports type, with a flat sole and with a "puffed" bootleg. Usually without a fastener, but can be equipped with a zipper or Velcro for better fit on the leg and ease of putting on. Shoes are suitable for early winter, for frosts down to –10 ° C (or you will have to put on warm woolen socks). They are a good choice for walking in wet snow, but they won't be able to splash in a puddle: after all, these are not rubber boots.

The temperature threshold for which the duts are designed varies depending on the manufacturer and the materials used in the manufacture of shoes. Quilts on fur or woolen lining are warmer, and given that the volume of the boots is given by the filler, such warm shoes are designed for frosts down to –25… –30 ° С.

Main producers: Reima, Kakadu, El Tempo, Mursu, Demar, Zebra, Olang.

Membrane shoes

These are shoes with a three-layer upper: outer textile, underneath there is a water-repellent membrane, and the third, inner layer, warming, is made of fur, natural or artificial. Most often, such shoes are designed to be worn at an air temperature of +5 to –10 ° C, but to clarify the temperature threshold, look at the label.

Thin membrane boots with textile lining are designed for cold autumn and warm winter. "Membrane" in a warm version is lined with natural wool or artificial fur. Some models have a filler (and then boots are often referred to as the "dutik" described above). These are very warm shoes that can cope with warming the legs in frosts down to –30 ° С.

An important nuance:

If the inner surface is made of synthetic materials, tights or socks for boots must be mixed with synthetics, otherwise the legs will sweat and freeze. Woolen socks, traditional for winter, cannot be combined with such shoes.

Main producers: Viking, Reima, Kuoma, Kotofey.

Having decided on the desired type of footwear and model, we pay attention to the sole for winter shoes:

  • it should be grooved (in particular, in the area of the toe and on the heel), while the pattern is located in several directions to prevent slipping;
  • we read what material the sole is made of: if it is polyurethane, keep in mind: in the cold, such a sole becomes stiff, loses elasticity and glides.

An example of choosing children's shoes for the winter

The child is 4 years old, he goes to kindergarten. You need shoes for walking in kindergarten - so that the legs do not freeze and do not get wet, because puddles are not uncommon on the playground. In frosts below -10 ... -15 ° C, the teacher replaces the walk with games and reading in a group. Leather shoes disappear immediately: a fully clothed child often has to wait for other children to gather, and during this time the legs in leather boots will sweat, and on the street they will freeze.

Valenki and ugg boots are warm, but not suitable for slush. The best choice is snowboats, quilts or membrane shoes. Snowboots and quilts have the advantage of being easy to take on and off by yourself.

Shoes for spring-autumn

During the off-season, you need relatively light, but still varied shoes: from spring-autumn boots to sneakers, shoes, moccasins. And, of course, every child needs rubber boots for walking in and after the rain.

Table 1. Demi-season shoes
Shoe type Wearing conditions
Boots, boots, ankle boots Depending on the material of which the shoes are made, for wet or dry spring / autumn weather, up to + 10 ... + 15 ° С.
Sneakers Dry weather, from + 10 ° С, if sneakers are made of leather; for textile models with perforation, the temperature threshold is higher. Suitable for sports, sometimes for walking.
Sneakers Dry weather, from + 15 ° С, for sports activities and active games.
Shoes Dry weather, from + 15 ° С, for festive events, school attendance. Depending on the model, they may be suitable for long walks. For games on the playground, it is advisable to change shoes.
Moccasins Dry weather, from + 15 ° С, are suitable for the role of everyday shoes. In a discreet design, they can replace shoes. Convenient for walking and playing.
Rubber Shoes On rain and slush; if the air temperature is slightly above zero, a fleece boot or woolen socks is pushed off; a warm insole is inserted.

Boots, boots, ankle boots

Cozy spring-autumn boots are selected taking into account the rest of the shoes for the off-season. For example, if the child's wardrobe has sneakers and rubber boots, and usually you walk close to home, then it is not necessary that the spring boots are waterproof and too thin: in them the child will walk in dry weather until the ambient temperature allows get over to shoes or sneakers. However, many models of demi-season boots and boots have at least a toe and heel that protects against moisture, so if you get caught in the rain while walking, there is a chance to get home and not get your feet wet.

Boots, ankle boots and boots help out perfectly even if it gets colder. The inner part of demi-season shoes is often made of leather, cotton, fleece or regular lining. This is enough to keep the legs from freezing.

Major producers: Tapiboo, Kotofey, Zebra.

Sneakers

Autumn and spring are the best times for active outdoor games. Of course, the child must be wearing suitable shoes - for example, sneakers. For jogging and quiet walks, for playing on the playground and in kindergarten, it is difficult to choose a better option for shoes than sneakers.

Sneakers can be considered orthopedically correct if they fit well and have a stiff heel counter. Many models from well-known manufacturers are equipped with an instep support. Sneakers with Velcro fixation are comfortable for younger children; for those who are older, laces are also suitable. A flexible outsole is an important requirement for running shoes. The outsole is often provided with good tread.

High-quality sneakers should be made of breathable materials so that the leg does not rot - leather and textiles can cope with ventilation.

Major manufacturers: Nike, Kakadu, Kotofey, Twins, Zebra.

Sneakers

A very popular and inexpensive spring shoe. Sneakers are not orthopedically correct, but many children like not only bright colors, but also flexible soles: sneakers are comfortable to run in, climb on the playground, play sports, etc. Considering that they have absolutely flat soles, moreover, they are usually thin, sneakers are not suitable as everyday shoes.

Major manufacturers: Nike, Kakadu, Kotofey, Kenka, Zebra.

Shoes

In stores you can find a variety of shoes: from fashion to "sport", similar to sneakers, only with an open top. Shoes in the child's wardrobe will not be superfluous for attending school and festive events, but not every model is suitable for long walks.

Shoes for the smallest from good manufacturers (for example, "Kotofey") meet all the requirements of the right footwear: hard back, round wide toe, high-quality fixation on the leg, instep support. Both walking and playing in such shoes is a pleasure.

Main producers: Kotofey, Santa & Barbara, Zebra, Tashi Orto, Mursu, Kakadu.

Moccasins

Moccasins are a cross between sports shoes and shoes. Their distinctive feature is a specific cut: a rim and a sewn-in tongue with a raised seam. This style provides a perfect fit on the leg. They are suitable for walking, and for attending classes, and many, many more occasions, especially since the moccasins are decorated in a variety of ways: lacing, fringe, applique, sequins, etc.

Moccasins come with a closed top and are suitable for wearing in the spring-autumn period, and open ones are considered summer shoes. For many manufacturers, they are orthopedically correct shoes, so they can be recommended for constant wear.

The most popular material for sewing moccasins is genuine leather.

Main producers: Kotofey, Zebra, Paris Commune, Twins, Cockatoo.

Rubber Shoes

So that walks are not canceled due to bad weather, and you can always get to kindergarten or school with dry feet, you cannot do without rubber boots. Modern rubber boots are supplemented with a functional "filling": a fleece or woolen inner boot (usually removable, which makes it easy to care for such shoes), so you don't have to worry about the child's feet not getting cold.

Many models are adorned with images of their favorite cartoon characters, and rubber boots are just the case when you can allow a child to choose a model to their liking, even if the design is absolutely not compatible with the existing wardrobe. All the same, you will have to wear them infrequently and not for long!

By the way, modern rubber boots are not even rubber boots at all, but the name has been retained from past years. Today, modern materials are used for their production, which not everyone can distinguish from rubber. As a rule, these waterproof boots are molded from PVC.

Shoes made of modern EVA material are a serious competitor to PVC boots. You can also walk in puddles in it without fear of getting your feet wet. EVA boots are much warmer than PVC boots, they have a thick sole, so with a warm backing they can be worn even at 0 degrees, when the sidewalk is covered with ice and water at the same time. EVA models have an invaluable advantage over rubber boots in such weather: they do not slip.

Main producers: Reima, Kotofey, Demar, Twins, Mursu, Zebra, Kakadu.

An example of choosing demi-season shoes

In the warm season, for a mobile boy of 6 years old, the basis of walking is mainly sports exercises: he constantly runs, jumps, trains on the children's playground. For hiking in the spring, boots left over from the fall are still suitable: there is a small margin in length, and now we are looking for lighter shoes. Considering that the child spends a lot of time on the playground, sneakers are not suitable: they are not orthopedically correct shoes. Therefore, we make a choice in favor of leather sneakers: with a hard back, instep support, relatively soft sole and good fixation on two Velcro straps. They are quite warm, so they are suitable for "sports" walks in the spring.

Summer shoes

The more mobile the child is, the more responsible parents are when choosing shoes for him for the summer. What is the difficulty?

Firstly, in size, because it is in the summertime that many babies' legs grow at an accelerated pace, and often by July-August parents have to buy another sandals, because the new ones, bought only in May, are suddenly small.

Secondly, in the style, since the child has to move a lot, and the shoes must be guaranteed to be comfortable and of high quality, and necessarily orthopedically correct.

In this section, we will look at the most popular categories - sandals and slippers. Of course, the summer assortment is not limited to these styles, and on cold days it would be good to have closed-type models in your wardrobe - light sneakers or moccasins.

Sandals and sandals

The most demanded shoes for the summer season. As the main pair, it is important to choose sandals that meet the requirements for orthopedically correct shoes. It is better to take the more open, and even more "model" ones as an additional pair.

Velcro is the most convenient fastener on children's shoes, which will allow even small children to take off and put on sandals on their own. A number of Velcro strips on modern models allow you to adjust the fullness, achieving a perfect fit and good fixation on the leg.

Major manufacturers: Nike, Kotofey, Bebetom, Elegami, M. Panda, Mio Sole, Mursu, Tapiboo, Twins, Zebra, Kakadu, Jump-Skok, Skorokhod, Tashi Orto.

Flip-flops, flip-flops, flip-flops

Summer shoes without backs and without fixation around the ankle joint are a variety of slippers. As a rule, they have a completely flat sole and a different type of fixation in the front of the leg - for example, a divider at the thumb (like in flip-flops).

Traditionally, slippers are considered beach shoes, they can be used to go to the playground near the house if the child prefers to play barefoot in the sandbox. While many children enjoy walking in flip flops, their use should be limited in favor of orthopedically correct shoe models.

An example of choosing summer shoes

For a calm girl of 4 years old, we select sandals for constant wear. You need a universal shoe that would be combined with shorts and a dress; suitable for playing on the court, in the sandbox; for hiking. In kindergarten, she will have to take off and put on her sandals on her own, so the fastener should be simple. Our choice is light sandals with Velcro, with open toes, hard back, instep support, small heels, with good fixation around the ankle, made of genuine leather (both inside and outside).

Indoor shoes

Strange as it may seem, the orthopedists have almost more requirements for the shift than for the rest of the shoes. This is easy to explain: if the child is in kindergarten all day, it is important that the feet are in shoes suitable for the healthy development of the foot. That is why it makes sense to choose a shift based not only on the tastes of the child (and his own): it is important to consider how many hours a day the child will wear it.

For the whole day in kindergarten or school, five times a week, you cannot do without preventive shoes.

When choosing a shift, you need to take into account the characteristics of the room. How hot is it? What is the floor (is it too slippery)? Therefore, in addition to the usual requirements for orthopedically correct shoes, a few more are added (including those dictated by the educational institution itself):

  • a simple and easy fastener for children's fingers (usually Velcro);
  • necessarily breathable material (leather or textiles);
  • business style (not sneakers or sneakers);
  • white soles (so that the shoes do not leave dark streaks on the floor).

The best option for a change is summer models with a closed toe and heel, corresponding to the idea of orthopedically correct shoes. It can be sandals, moccasins, shoes.

Slippers

Soft textile slippers with rubber soles are very popular as a change, especially for kindergarten toddlers. Doctors strongly discourage children from wearing this kind of footwear for a long time.

If the shoes are selected for developmental activities twice a week, each of which lasts an hour or two and includes tasks at the table and outdoor games, soft slippers are quite suitable for the role of a shift. They are not orthopedically correct, but are generally child-friendly, quick to put on, and inexpensive.

Czech women

Shoes for dancing and sports activities have gained some acceptance as a replacement shoe. Despite the composition suitable for children's legs (they are usually sewn from genuine leather, less often from textile materials), children are not recommended to be in gym shoes for a long time. The flat flexible sole does not provide the necessary support for the foot and does not absorb the impact of the heel on the floor, so doctors advise using gym shoes only for their intended purpose: within the ballroom.

The same applies to sneakers and sneakers so beloved by children: you can use them as a "short-term" change or one-time, but it is not recommended to wear them on an ongoing basis. The exception is high-quality leather or textile sneakers with a hard back, round toe and instep support, with good fixation on the leg.

Shift selection example

A first grader needs a change of shoes to go to school. The old building has a rather slippery floor and steps, but it's warm. Because the child has to be at school for several hours a day, shoes must be suitable. The teacher insists on business style shoes. Our choice is leather sandals with closed toes in a discreet design, with a Velcro fastener, orthopedically correct so that the girl is comfortable and she can quickly change shoes herself. When choosing sandals, pay attention to the sole: made of an elastic material that provides good grip on the floor surface, with an expressive tread.

Three "not" when buying children's shoes

  1. Shoes must certainly be in size (see the article "How to choose the right size for children's shoes"): not only the length of the foot is taken into account, but also the width and rise. The gap between the toe and the extreme point of the insole should be 0.5–1 cm, otherwise (if the shoes are smaller or larger) the skimmer will be located in the wrong place, the shoes will dangle or, on the contrary, pinch the leg. Both will lead to unpleasant sensations and discomfort in wearing. Completeness is an equally important indicator; usually branded shoes have appropriate markings (narrow, medium, wide). Fingers should be free, not squeezed by a narrow toe. In addition, shoes that are not the right size cannot be considered orthopedically correct.
  2. Shoes must be suitable for the season, weather and conditions in which they are supposed to be worn. Do not trust sellers who promise that this particular pair of boots will cover a child's shoe needs from early fall to late spring. This will not be a healthy decision: sweating and freezing of feet in such shoes cannot be avoided. It is better to buy two or three pairs (especially since inexpensive and low-quality shoes are not the same thing), but exactly appropriate for the weather conditions, than one boots "for the entire cold period."
  3. Don't buy used shoes.

Expert opinion

“As a rule, our customers come to a store with a firm understanding of what they want to buy. But it often happens that they buy completely different shoes: after talking with consultants, parents understand that they need, say, not leather boots, but felt boots, since there are already ducks or snowboots in the wardrobe for slush and a little frost, and the only requirement that they presented with a new pair of shoes - this is to keep the baby's feet warm. "

How to choose the right shoes for your child

  • shoes must be orthopedically correct;
  • follow the recommendations for choosing the size of children's shoes;
  • pay attention to the method of fixing so that the shoes hold well on the leg;
  • the toe of the shoe should be round; do not squeeze your fingers;
  • it is better to buy shoes with fitting - put it on the child, ask to walk and run: distortion of the usual gait is a sign that the child is uncomfortable in this pair;
  • each season should have its own shoes: it is impossible to go out in the winter in autumn boots and vice versa;
  • it is advisable to buy exactly new shoes, since it tends to crumple on the leg of its owner;
  • if you need to save money, create a basic shoe wardrobe that will cover all the needs of the child for the coming season.

conclusions

The rich assortment on store shelves not only makes it possible to choose what parents and child want, but, on the contrary, makes it difficult for many to choose. Our experts reviewed the main types of children's shoes in order to help customers navigate the variety of products and create a successful shoe wardrobe for their child for every season.

For the winter, you can make up a set, for example, from dutik for slush and a little frost and boots-felt boots for frosts from -10 ° C and below. In the spring, you will need demi-season boots, sneakers, shoes or moccasins. Let's not forget about rubber boots.

In the summer, you can get by with good sandals, but you should not forget that there are cold days when you need to change into shoes, sneakers or at least sneakers.

And most importantly: if the budget is limited, experts advise to be guided by the principle “less is more”: let there be fewer different shoes in the wardrobe, but it will be truly high-quality, comfortable and orthopedically correct.
