In one material, we have collected for you 6 ideas for winter crafts from natural and scrap materials with step-by-step master classes, a selection of 60 photos and videos.

Idea 1. Tabletop diorama with a winter storyline

A tabletop diorama will allow you and your baby to show all your talents - from modeling to construction. Moreover, using a variety of materials and objects: branches, cones, toys (for example, from eggs "Kinder Surprise"), plasticine, salt dough, cardboard, cotton wool and much more.

The first thing you need to do is come up with a storyline for your diorama and plan your composition. You can recreate any of your imaginations or be inspired by our selection of themes with photos and small tips for making crafts.

Topic 1. "Winter in the forest"

The craft is made of polystyrene and plasticine. The bear can also be molded from polymer clay or salt dough.

If in a kindergarten or school you were given the task of making a winter craft from natural materials, then you can use cones. They make excellent Christmas trees, owls, deer, squirrels and hedgehogs for the winter forest. By the way, we just have several master classes on how to make them.

Do you want to make a simple craft more effective? Just light it up with an LED string! To embed light bulbs into cardboard, you need to make cross-shaped cuts in it.

This winter forest is made entirely of felt. In this case, animal figurines can be worn on the fingers.

Topic 2. "Winter House"

A favorite theme at exhibitions of winter crafts. The house can be surrounded by a forest or a courtyard with paths, a gate, a mountain ash, a skating rink and a snowman. And the hut itself can be beautiful not only outside, but also inside.

This video tutorial shows a simple and quick way to make winter crafts from natural materials, namely twigs and cones.

Topic 3. "Christmas in the village / town"

If you build a couple of houses and connect them with beautiful streets, you get a whole village or town.

The easiest way to make houses is paper, more precisely, from printed templates, which only need to be cut, painted and glued. The next video presents a step-by-step master class on making such a craft.

Topic 4. "The North Pole and its inhabitants"

Want to make a more original craft? We suggest making a diorama on the theme of the North Pole.

To make such a craft, download and print templates (click on the picture to download), transfer them to cardboard, then cut, connect and paint the parts

Topic 5. "Winter fun"

Crafts on the theme of winter fun illustrates all the joys of winter. For example, sledding, making snowmen, or playing snowballs. To recreate winter scenes, Lego men (pictured below), Kinder Surprise figures from eggs and any small toys are well suited. You can also make people with your own hands from plasticine or polymer clay.

Topic 6. Winter sports

Another very original idea of the craft is a diorama on the theme of skiing, figure skating, hockey, bobsleigh, snowboarding. By the way, the Sochi Olympics can serve as an inspiration and model for modeling.

To make such figures of skiers, download, print, color and cut out templates (to download templates, click on the picture), then glue a toothpick to the little men’s hands, and an popsicle stick to the feet.

Topic 7. Scenes from fairy tales

Choose your favorite fairy tale story and recreate one of its episodes. For example, it can be a fairy tale "12 months", "The Snow Queen", "Frost", "The Nutcracker", "By the Pike's Command."

Everything in this craft on the theme of the fairy tale "By the Pike's Command" is molded from plasticine and only the mill is assembled from matches

To make such a craft, you need to cut several holes in a piece of plywood and insert tree branches into them

This composition is dedicated to the theme of the ballet "Nutcracker". The figures in it are made of ... clothespins. Unfortunately, in Russia, clothespins with a round top are not sold, but you can order them on the Aliexpress website or use the usual ones.

From this video you will learn how to make a winter craft with your own hands based on the fairy tale "By the Pike."

Idea 2. Skating rink with a steerable figure

The originality of this winter craft lies in the fact that the skater can be smoothly "rolled on the ice" by moving the magnet along the back of the box.

What you need:

  • A shallow can of cookies, tea, etc.
  • Paper;
  • Paints and brushes, pencils or markers;
  • Paperclip or coin;
  • Glue;
  • Magnet.

How to do it:

Step 1. Decorate the tin box so that it resembles a skating rink: paint the bottom with blue and white paint and cover with transparent varnish (glitter nail polish is good), garlands and flags can be placed on top of the box, and snow-covered trees on the sides.

Step 2. Draw a skating figure of a girl or boy on thick paper or cardboard, then cut and glue it to a coin or paper clip.

Step 3. Attach a magnet to the back of the box. Voila, the ice rink is ready!

Idea 3. Picture painted by prints

Painting with fingerprints, palm prints, and even footprints is a lot of fun, especially for preschoolers. All you need is fantasy, gouache and a piece of paper! In the next selection of photos, you can see examples of such drawings.

Idea 4. Mini-tree made of paper

Another winter craft idea for the little ones is paper Christmas trees. They are made very easily and quickly, and you can use them as you like: as a decoration for the same diorama, as an applique for a New Year's card or panel, to decorate a garland or a Christmas tree.

What you need:

  • A sheet of green paper and some brown paper for the trunk;
  • Glue stick;
  • Scissors;
  • Sequins, rhinestones, beads and other decorations for the Christmas tree.

Step 1. From a sheet of green paper, make a square by bending one corner of the sheet, as shown in the photo, and cutting out the excess.

Step 2. Cut one of the short sides of the triangle into equal narrow strips, not reaching the fold of about 1 cm (see photo above).

Step 3. Now straighten your workpiece and begin to alternately glue the ends of the strips to the center fold line, moving from bottom to top.

Step 4. When you have all the strips in place, bend and glue the bottom corner of the tree up. Further in the same place, but on the back side, glue a small rectangle (tree trunk) cut out of brown paper.

Step 5. Decorate the tree with colorful beads, sequins, buttons and other decorations. If you wish, you can make several of these trees, glue loops to them, so that you can then assemble a garland or decorate a real Christmas tree with crafts.

Idea 5. Snow globe ... more precisely a bank

Now we propose to make a real souvenir with your own hands - a variation of a snow globe. True, it will be made from an ordinary glass jar. The child will be able to present the craft to a loved one, present it at a winter crafts competition, or simply leave it on the shelf for beauty.

What you need:

  • Glass jar with a lid;
  • A piece of styrofoam;
  • Glue (hot or "Moment");
  • Acrylic paint to decorate the lid (optional);
  • Artificial snow or just sea salt, sugar, white soap or foamed polyethylene grated on a fine grater;
  • Figurines that will fit in the jar;
  • Styrofoam balls or any white beads;
  • Fishing line;
  • Needle.

How to do it:

Step 1. Repaint the lid to the desired color and leave to dry. In this project, spray paint was used to redesign the lid.

Step 2. While the paint is drying, let's make a "snowfall". To do this, you need to string several balls of polystyrene on a fishing line threaded into a needle. Use scotch tape to attach the "snowflakes" to the jar.

Step 3. Trace the bottom of the can directly over the styrofoam, then use a knife to cut the resulting circle out of it. This circle will become the base for the figures.

Step 4. Glue your figures to the foam circle, then glue the resulting composition to the bottom of the jar.

Step 5. Pour artificial or homemade snow into the jar, close it with a lid with snowflakes and enjoy the view of a winter fairytale.

Idea 6. New Year's card

There are never enough New Year cards, so we suggest making a few with your child.

What you need:

  • A sheet of white paper;
  • A sheet of colored paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue stick;
  • Markers.

How to do it:

Step 1. Fold a sheet of white paper with an accordion three times so that each top layer of the accordion is smaller in width than the previous one.

Step 2. Spread out your accordion, cut the leaf diagonally and slightly in waves as shown in the photo above, then reassemble the accordion. You have got a slope of a snow-covered mountain.

Step 3. Now take a sheet of colored paper, glue a blank on it and cut off the excess. Hooray! The postcard is almost ready.

Step 4. Decorate the mountain with Christmas trees, draw snowmen and skiers, and finally sign the postcard.

In the same way, but using larger paper, you can make a winter craft for kindergarten.

"Oh, what a loss - winter is gone ..." Yuri Vizbor once sang. I hope you love this fabulous time of the year, when the world is white and clean, dull and silent, the time when you think and dream so well, breathe so easily, and at the same time, the comfort and warmth of your home is so dear. If you want to reflect the charm of winter in your handicraft - our master class is for you.

Decoupage is a type of handicraft in which, with the help of cut and pasted patterns, they create the effect of a surface decorated with painting. Drawings are cut from special napkins for decoupage, decoupage cards, even clippings from ordinary three-layer napkins, pictures printed on a printer, dried flowers, threads and lace are used.

In order that the product made using the decoupage technique does not become a primitive application, the product is created with a background and supplemented with a drawing.

There are two fundamental approaches to getting the job done:

  • Drawing the background, sticking a picture, revision; drawing in this sequence often rises above the background.
  • Surface preparation, image sticking, background elaboration. When working in this sequence, the drawing and the surface merge.

To make the product made using the decoupage technique look solid, it is extremely important that the background merges with the cut out picture. To create a background, paints are used, more often acrylics, since they have many advantages: the industry produces many colors and shades of acrylic paints; easy to apply to the surface; dry quickly and do not smell; by diluting acrylic paints, translucent shades can be obtained.

To refine the product, the following techniques are used:

  1. Drawings;
  2. Applying shadows;
  3. Creation of volumetric drawings using three-dimensional decoupage cards, thermoplastics and thermal films.

The final finish of a product has an important effect on its appearance. Usually the product is varnished.

Experienced decoupage masters advise using:

  • Water-based acrylic varnishes, glossy and matte;
  • Yacht varnish, also glossy and matte, gives the surface a yellowing effect, good for vintage styling;
  • Parquet varnish.

For the manufacture of products using the crackle technique, the essence of which is the visual construction of the surface by creating a mesh of small cracks on it. To achieve this effect, a special craquelure varnish is used, which can be one-component or two-component.

Decoupage is relatively uncomplicated, faster than mosaic or patchwork, and very beautiful.

You can make a panel on a tree cut with your own hands, use a ceramic plate or any other base. Choose a drawing and - creative success to you.

Beautiful winter panels in other techniques

Inspired by the beauties of winter, you can make wonderful panels with your own hands that will decorate the wall of your house using a variety of techniques.

Among them are:

  1. Patchwork sewing;
  2. Quilling (rolled paper products);
  3. You can make appliqués from a variety of materials, you can combine materials.

It is especially pleasant to use the little things stored in the house, which it is a pity to throw away and use for their intended purpose is no longer possible.

Patchwork or patchwork technique

To create a panel in the patchwork style, it is interesting to use scraps of fabrics, ribbons and lace left over from other handicrafts or well-preserved details of used clothing. Let's see what we have, get inspired and draw a sketch. Then we erase and iron the material. We cut out the patterns according to the sketch and cut out the material. We process the edges of the parts. We sew the details onto the base manually or on a sewing machine - and our panel or even a whole patchwork picture is ready.

Quilling technique

This is the creation of compositions, both flat and voluminous, from curled narrow strips of paper - the so-called modules. You need to start, as in almost all needlework, with the creation of a sketch. Then they choose paper, create modules, stick them on the base - and you can admire the masterpiece. For all its simplicity, this work requires perseverance, patience and accuracy. The beauty of the product depends on the evenness and uniformity of the modules and on the accuracy of gluing. To obtain even modules, you need perfectly straight paper strips and a special twisting tool - a ruler with a slot or a needle.

A convenient twisting tool can be made with your own hands by taking a darning needle, driving it into a pencil with the tip to make it convenient to hold, and breaking off the upper part of the ear to make a small two-pronged fork. Grab the end of the paper strip with this fork and twist it - you get a tight and neat curl.

Application

If you want to make crafts with your children, or you are looking for inspiration for doing needlework in kindergarten, then the ideal option would be to create an applique from cotton pads. Blue cardboard, white paint for snowflakes, yellow for the moon and stars, three cotton pads, small eye buttons, a mouth drawn with a felt-tip pen or lined with lace - and a wonderful snowman is ready.

Go out with your baby for a walk in the forest or park, see what beauty is around. Maybe you see new ideas for joint needlework. And then a wonderful winter fairy tale will forever remain with you, reminding you of winter and the joy of communicating with the closest and dearest person and the wonderful moment of the birth of an idea. Go for it!

Hair jewelry using the kanzashi technique

The Japanese traditional kanzashi hair ornament has been known since the 17th century. Kanzashi are made from varnished wood, precious metals, turtle shells, silk. The creation of real kanzashi is a laborious, jewelry work that only professionals can do.

In amateur handicrafts, kanzashi means the creation of hairpins decorated with flowers from fabric.

There are only two elements in kanzashi - a narrow petal and a round petal. Petals can be voluminous and flat. Both are rolled up from a square blank and glued.

Experienced craftswomen advise to immediately melt the prepared squares on a candle or a lighter. Or immediately cut the parts with a soldering iron or a wood burning device.

Snow-white winter is a favorite season for many of us, and New Year is one of the best holidays. Just imagine: it's frosty outside, the roads are covered with snow, everything is covered with huge snowdrifts, and the whole family gathered in a warm cozy house on a weekend. And when the kids start fiddling with colored paper and scissors, then normal parents will not be able to stand aside and will definitely join handicrafts, which will delight both themselves and the kids. The desire to create wakes up even more with the appearance of a fluffy Christmas tree. That's when children with mom and dad open a real workshop of Santa Claus, so many toys for the Christmas tree, garlands, snowflakes and decorations for gifts appear from under their hands. It is not only beautiful, but also gives great joy to those who are engaged in homemade products, and those who see them.

Joint family activities are always very beneficial for the atmosphere in the house. And making crafts on New Year's Eve is a long-standing wonderful tradition in many families. But for all the seeming simplicity, this work is quite painstaking, and it takes a lot of time and effort. But what you can't sacrifice for this fun, meaningful activity. After all, from such a pastime, the hearts of all family members are united. And because adults together with children are engaged in New Year's crafts, the kids will not only get a lot of joy, but will also try very hard to make their parents like their work. Therefore, it is important to choose options for crafts in which the child can fully express himself. You also need to properly distribute responsibilities, highlighting the leading role for the baby. And believe me: your efforts will not be in vain.

These snowmen are made from socks. Let's try?

Put a hat on the snowman and he is ready!

One of the simple New Year's crafts can be FATHER FROST, for the manufacture of which you need a walnut and an apple. These delicious decorations can be placed under the tree or on the party table. A head is made of a walnut, on which a face is painted with paint. The sharp end of the nut is the neck. Then you need to attach cotton wool and the same beard. The cap is made of a triangular piece of felt rolled up in a cone and glued together, a cotton pom-pom is attached to its top and the cap is glued to the head. After that, a large red apple is carefully polished with a napkin. A drop of glue drips onto its tail and the head is glued. If the family has small children who are used to testing everything with a tooth, then the glue can be replaced with caramel or gelatin. You can also use a toothpick to connect the parts.

DIY winter crafts

If you took up winter crafts, do it yourself can make very cute SNOWFLAKES. Moreover, according to the degree of complexity, they can also be very different. For example, simple ones - from a sheet of paper folded into a corner and cut off in the center and along the edges (either a simple notch or more complex figures). Snowflakes can be made voluminous if, according to the standard principle, a sheet of paper is folded several times through the center onto a corner, and then counter cuts are made in a checkerboard pattern, but not reaching the edge of the opposite side. In such a snowflake, the top may not be cut off, but the opposite side is cut with a simple straight cut parallel to the opposite cuts. After unfolding, the resulting corners through one are gently wrapped towards the center and glued. Unused corners are wrapped on the other side of the product. It turns out a beautiful lush snowflake. You can make this invariable winter attribute from beads and beads. The central circles are made of small beads, and the top ones are made of ordinary beads. Such a snowflake must be woven from the central circle. You need to take a needle with a fishing line, put 5 beads on it, close it in a ring, and then put on 5 more beads, from which to make loops again. They must be attached to the beads in the central circle, and then gradually increase the number of beads to be collected, and attach the loops to the already formed petals. Wire is also suitable for beaded snowflakes, which will make the decoration smoother. Such a snowflake will not bend and it will be more convenient to hang it on the tree. This is also better because you don't need to put a needle on the wire with this kind of weaving.

Angel from a napkin.

Wire and yarn can make a wonderful Christmas decor.

This is a snowflake made of salt crystals. Remember ours.

If you remember, we will detail how to make a crystal solution.

Our inventive mothers, if they wish or need, can adapt any item for decoration. So New Year's crafts FROM FIGURED PASTA PRODUCTS have become very popular. You can dream up with your child and make unusual toys and funny garlands. Even if you just paint them in gold or white, sprinkle them with piece frost, then the tree will sparkle from them, and the baby will simply be delighted. For the smallest, simple toys made from cardboard templates are suitable. The child will be able to cut figures out of paper, felt or foil on them. You can also adapt unnecessary beads and buttons, different in shape and color, found at home. Their child can sew according to his own taste to the figures made earlier. Then they must be hung on the tree at the most honorable place.

For crafts, you will need pasta of different shapes, glue and glitter.

Kids winter crafts

For older guys, you can offer more serious kids winter crafts requiring certain skills. So younger schoolchildren can easily cope with a New Year's craft - SLIPPERS WITH FATHER FROST. Of course, they can be made "in an adult way" - from thick felt, insoles, padding polyester. But in our case, a simpler one is suitable - a souvenir version of slippers that can be hung, for example, for combs in the hallway. They are made either from thick fabric or from cardboard. In this case, the child traces his foot on the cardboard and cuts out the base. Then, from another piece of cardboard, he cuts out the top of the sneaker, and you can offer him to cut its shape according to the template you made in advance. Before joining both blanks, the upper part is decorated to match the face of Santa Claus. To do this, you can take a braid of a suitable tone, thick fabric, colored paper, two white buttons and two black beads from which eyes are made, multi-colored yarn, a synthetic winterizer for a mustache, beard and cap hem. You can decorate everything with white gouache and sparkles. If your child gives such a souvenir to his beloved grandparents, then their happiness will have no boundaries.

And here is another card with a snowman.

A funny version of New Year's crafts - decorations for the Christmas tree FROM EGG SHELL. At the beginning, white and yolk are carefully blown out of a whole egg (fresh) through punctures at its ends. Then the most creative stage begins - the decoration of the shell. The easiest way is to glue the entire surface of the eggshell with small pieces of colored paper. You can glue different applications from the same colored paper. If you add wadded hair, a mustache, a beard and a paper cap to the drawn mouth, nose and eyes, you can get a cute gnome, clown, Santa Claus or someone else. You can also glue over the egg with sparkles, decorate with finely chopped "rain", different ribbons, as well as absolutely everything that comes to hand. And you can simply paint the shell, but not with watercolors and gouache. They do not adhere well to the surface of the egg, so oil or acrylic paint is more suitable. A thread for hanging a toy, pre-threaded through both holes, is fixed at the lower end of the egg, for example, with a thread brush or bead.

Sugar snowmen.

Don't you know how to use plastic bottles correctly?

But for the PARADISE APPLE, everything in the kitchen will do. This will crumple up the foil and shape it into a small apple. On top of it, you need to wrap it with a finishing layer of the same foil. A pea of pepper is glued into the recess at the bottom of the apple, and two holes are pierced in the upper recess, into which a stalk, a leaf and a fastening thread will be inserted. For the cutting, you can use a twig, a real tail from an apple or a piece of twine, and the leaf can be successfully replaced with a bay leaf, which is better tinted for greater naturalness. Now all that remains is to sprinkle the apple with snow. It can be replaced with scraps of paper, small balls of styrofoam, or ordinary sugar. In order for the snow not to crumble, the apple should be greased with glue or transparent varnish (for nails) and rolled in a material prepared for the snow ahead of time. Moreover, you do not need to roll the whole apple, but only one side or top of it. When the apple is dry, it is ready to hang on the tree.

Winter is the favorite time of the year for all children. They are happy to go sledding, make snowmen and arrange ski or ice skating rides. But needlewomen draw inspiration in winter. Delightful snow-white landscapes just want to convey in some interesting technique. For example, a winter landscape made in the form of a cube-tunnel looks very beautiful. Its manufacturing technology is so simple that even a student can do it.

To work, you need to prepare just a few materials:

  • - a ruler;
  • - a simple pencil;
  • - scissors;
  • - breadboard knife;
  • - 4 sheets of landscape paper for drawing;
  • - a tube with PVA glue.
First, on a piece of paper, using a regular ruler and a simple pencil, you need to draw 2 squares with sides of 10 cm and an allowance of 1 cm on each side.

There are 6 such blanks to be cut. It is better to cut the corners right away and bend all sides along the seam lines.

Further, on 4 squares, draw a ring in the very center and various images of a winter theme. A great option is a snowman. Be sure to draw so that its lower circle touches the edge of the ring.

On the second square we represent the tree on the right.

On the third piece of paper, the tree should be on the left.

And on top of the fourth square, draw a cloud from the very top.

2 workpieces with edge allowances are left without a pattern. And you also need to cut out 2 squares with a side of 10 cm. These will be the side parts of the cube.

Now, with scissors and a mock knife, cut out our images so that they are attached to the edge of the ring.

Now let's move on to assembling all the parts. On a square with an allowance, glue 4 blanks with drawings using PVA glue, moving from top to bottom in this order: cloud, snowman, right tree and left tree.

Now we glue another side piece.

It remains only to glue the side parts, that is, those squares that are without an allowance.
The cube is ready!

For decoration, cut out miniature snowflakes from scraps of white paper. Approximately 12-14 pieces.

We glue them in the foreground of the square where the cloud is located.

It turns out such a magnificent cube-tunnel with a winter-themed landscape.
  • - For a more colorful picture, use colored double-sided paper.
  • - Snowflakes can be cut in blue or silver.
  • - If the middle parts of the cube are made of white paper, then the sides of the cube made of colored paper will make the image stand out better.
  • - Instead of PVA glue, you can use double-sided tape, glue stick.
