How to make a Chinese lantern?

Determine for yourself what color the paper will be inside, and cut a strip 2.5 cm wide from its short side. This strip will later be the handle of the flashlight. In addition, this way you will make this part of the flashlight smaller, which will make it possible to fit it inside.

Fold the paper in half horizontally across the wide side of the paper and cut into strips where the fold is. The width of the stripes is approximately 2-2.5 cm.The cut itself should not reach the end, leaving an area of the paper about 5 cm.

paper or tracing paper, the weight of which is less than 25 grams per 1 sq. Heavier material will not be able to take off;
fire retardant - a liquid that protects paper from fire and moisture;
a few sticks or twigs of bamboo or light wood;
light wire;
wax or flammable liquid;
cotton fabric;
tape or glue.

The structure can be made in any shape: cylindrical, square, rectangular or round. Depending on the selected image, the paper is cut into large rectangular or cylindrical pieces, narrow strips expanding in the middle of the "leaflet". Before gluing the pieces, the material is impregnated with a fire retardant, the bending points for the "roof" of the lantern are marked. The "body" of the device is colored to your liking.

The frame sticks are attached with good glue. You can use any number of blocks to create triangular or polygonal structures. By combining sticks of different sizes, a heart-shaped frame is created - this is the easiest way to make a romantic flashlight with your own hands.
