All that is unknown. "

White crow, camel girl, toilet aquarium, laptop cake, lady with frigate hairdo, and that's not all. Tetris tie, ghost towns, on x-rays, the abduction of a false jaw and many more ideas for unusual gifts, events and travel - this is the cabinet of curiosities.

Curious and odious, shocking and attractive things, phenomena and people are collected from the crazy world on a string and sorted into more than 450 articles, each of which is neatly flaunting on its own page. Most often we are found when they are looking for something about, or…. Fear of death and love, as before, like two packs of hounds, haunt every person.

Heavy and tall hairstyles in the form of ships were overthrown together with the monarchy in France by the incorruptible Robespierre and the tongue-tied Danton. It turned out that hairstyles and outfits are nothing compared to the highest way of human self-expression, revolutionary activity. Who is the greatest revolutionary in our memorable history? That's right, this is a nice guy Che. In the treasury article, our eyes are opened to the star and death of the forever young idol of youth, who himself did not live to see 40. We learn about how Guevara in his youth turned away from the army, and then became a major and signed "Stalin II". Or how the future Cuban minister Ernesto, on the orders of the police who detained him, coached and led a rural football team to victory in the interregional cup.

Science, feeding progress, turns the unusual into the ordinary. Creating a wide range of miracles, she changes the old boredom of life for a new one, one whim for the second, third and hundredth. More precisely, cellular. Nowadays, in order to be unique, if not smart, it is enough to buy an outstanding device, for example, a mobile phone with an ultrasonic mosquito repeller. Or for one SIM card a phone in the form of a matchbox, and for the second - a la a pack of cigarettes. A material will help you find a fateful gadget.

Another plane of human individuality is what our distant ancestors called “shame”, and our children called “bikini zone”. Masterpieces of hidden originality, intimate hairstyles became popular in the last century, the fashion for shaving and decorating one place flourished in the late 1980s and does not fade to this day. You can read about the most unusual intimate hairstyles, for women and men, in. We warn you about caution - there you will find ... a club-toed bear (s) and curly-haired Frank Farian, looking out of ladies' panties.

If your career does not go beyond the universal concept of success, then you will most likely have to wear a scarf called a tie or "cravatka" (the middle name, oddly enough, is born from the word "Croat"). In order to stand out from the office crowd, a tie will need an original one. If the main and main thing in your work is a lunch break, then boldly knit a "noose" around your neck in the form of a hot dog with mustard. You need to hypnotize the client - there is a tie with a crossword puzzle, there is nowhere to shove a small pink player - get an accessory with a special pocket. A full overview of the Crazy style for men is presented on the page.

Or maybe you hate office and hate nature? Yes, many users of computers and the Internet are indifferent to nature. They will never go to hot Asia to see how, stretching the ridge and fleeing the heat, an elephant swims. But they will be happy to see the pictures. And about the elephant, and about the deer, whose horns in the dark mixed with the shadows of bushes and trees. About two bears, one of which is up to the throat in water, the other is only ankle-deep. How the Arctic fox looks like when it comes, and something else that is alive and beautiful is told and shown in the article.

To the unusual beauties of living nature and sleeping stones, one cannot but add (to complete the bouquet of beauties) the aesthetic power of death. Not his own, but the one that happens in the shallow world of insects. If you look at the predator-prey relationship among insects through a macro lens, you will see enchanting pictures of a black fly meeting a light-colored mantis, for example. Or a dragonfly and a bug caught by it. This article is called -. If these wonderful insects were at least a third of a person's size, we would not have survived on planet Earth.

A variety of skills, tricks and mechanisms help the living to avoid a beautiful death. As in humans, in the fauna, defense mechanisms are determined hormonally - if adrenaline enters the nerve, it goes to anger, if norepinephrine - to fear. Therefore, at the moment of danger, some possums plunge into a reversible coma, the larva of the Colorado potato beetle becomes covered with poisonous hemolymph, and the bombardier beetle pours boiling water from its own backside on the counter beetle. How different animals protect themselves in different ways is written and photographed in the article.

The fake sea maiden is a piece, relic product, but mermaids have a place not only on the shelves of museums, but also in private collections. Remember the movie-gun millionaire who collected body parts from stars and celebrities? Such eccentrics exist in reality. The demand for outlandish chimeras creates an outlandish supply. In a series of articles, an unusual site acquaints Russian-speaking consumers and amateurs with the achievements of North American taxidermy. The art of making stuffed animals and dummies presents us with a huge number of outstanding gifts and souvenirs. Do you want to use as an ashtray "just like a real" skull of the Soviet socialist Chikatilo? There you are! Looking for the severed hands of those stray cheats who cheated in poker? In a jar with a warning label? Let's do it! After all, everything terrible is charming for someone. And vice versa…

For those who do not dare to give themselves or a friend / friend unnatural boobs made of artificial materials, but who yearn for fame, we recommend the digest. It tells about who and what eats from the Kremlin feeder for the holiday, why Santa Claus and his reindeer poop with candy, as well as how much the inflatable Christmas tree is nowadays and what happens to the psyche of a person who is presented with the corpse of a hare hit by a car on December 31.

Let us hope that after getting acquainted with the Unusual site, no dramatic changes will happen to your psyche, your mood will improve, your erudition will deepen, creativity. Stay tuned!

It is hardly possible in this life to know the cause of all phenomena, the processes of origin of all events and explanations for all things in the world. Unless you're omniscient, of course. Even having received two or three educations, a well-read person cannot always tell how lightning is born (scientists themselves do not know). We are especially pleased with things that at first glance work in a magical and inexplicable way. Such "surprises" will find a place in any home, will become an ideal gift and will always be collected in a collection. If you have enough money, of course. Because for unusual things - like fragments of meteorites or bones of a dinosaur - you have to shell out sometimes colossal money.

When you think about bizarre natural phenomena that could not be, the oddities of space are usually imagined: a red square nebula, glass rain or a magical island on Saturn's largest moon Titan. But we don't have to go that far to marvel. Our own world is full of fascinating natural phenomena. Most of you (and I, too) did not even realize that these miracles exist ... until today. We will change that now.

Despite the fact that most of us live in apartment buildings, whose mailboxes are simple and uncomplicated, craftsmen around the world who are lucky enough to live in their house decorate their mailboxes in a very sophisticated way. In the end, the mailbox is a kind of symbol, like the old Russian stove, from which the construction of the house began. No wonder the distance between cities is measured from the post office to the post office. Delight your eyes with these incredible mailboxes.

Nowadays, you won't surprise anyone with molecular cuisine, since establishments of a similar theme are open not only in Europe, but also in large cities of Russia. For those who do not know what it is, let me explain: molecular cuisine is a cookery created by scientists, which, when cooking, takes into account the physicochemical mechanisms responsible for the transformation of ingredients during food processing. In other words, scientists have turned the food we are used to into something completely incredible and unusual. Of course, there were a lot of fans to try outlandish dishes, so molecular cuisine is gradually gaining momentum and becoming more and more popular in the world.

which can be found underwater

A group of amateur cavers discovered a river in Mexico, along the bed of which water streams slowly flowed, and trees, moss and other plants grew along the banks ... in general, the river is like a river. Probably, the researchers thought the same way until they realized that they were under water at a depth of 8 meters.

Incredibly, the river does flow under water. This is due to the fact that river water is a mixture of salt water and hydrogen sulfide, which is denser than seawater, and therefore settles at the bottom, forming a kind of border separating the underwater kingdom from the river flowing along its bottom.

The discoverers of the underwater river said that when they sailed over it, they had the feeling that they were soaring in the air, flying over an amazing world invented by the fantasy of a brilliant science fiction writer.

Below you can see a stunning photo of this place taken by one of the members of the research team, Anatoly Beroschin:

Unfortunately, hydrogen sulfide is extremely toxic, and therefore, if fish swim there, then only to the top with their belly. However, this does not mean that she is lifeless! The waters of the underground river are significantly warmer than the marine environment above its surface, which has become a decisive factor for hundreds of thousands of thermophilic species of molluscs that have adapted to life in the toxic waters of the underground river.

There are a huge number of underground rivers and lakes in the world, with a sandy bottom and rocky shores. Despite the fact that they are much warmer than their environment, scientists have given them the controversial name "cold seeps".

Even more surprising is the fact that waves also run along the surface of the rivers flowing under the sea waves. You can verify this by watching this video, which became the first evidence of the existence of underwater waves:

You have most likely already seen the stunning image of the Great Blue Hole, which ufologists behind their backs call the landing site of green men.

For many people, this hole evokes associations with a gigantic hole, dug by an overly intelligent prehistoric creature that decided to wait out the meteorite bombardment that destroyed all the dinosaurs. But in fact, it is a natural geological formation, akin to the fact that recently, with periodic constancy here and there, appear on the body of our long-suffering planet. A striking example is the crater that appeared in 2010 in Guatemala, which swallowed up an entire residential area.

The "Great Blue Hole" gapes with a laceration on the body of the Caribbean Sea, 60 kilometers off the eastern coast of Belize.

According to experts, the "Great Blue Hole" was originally an ornate chain of limestone caves that formed during the last ice age. Then the sea level was much lower, so the sinkhole appeared only several hundred years later, when the sea level rose and the caves collapsed as a result of flooding.

Today, the Great Blue Hole is a giant natural well with a diameter of 305 meters and a depth of 124 meters.

The discoverer of the ‘hole’ in 1972 was our old acquaintance, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who added it to his list of the 10 best diving spots.

And in 2010, the ‘blue abyss’, as divers call the “Great Blue Hole,” attracted the attention of world famous freediver Guillaume Nery, who decided to find out what was at its bottom and dived to 124 meters without scuba gear.

We watch the mesmerizing free fall of Guyom Neri into the darkness of the most picturesque karst sinkhole in the world:

Sometimes it seems that these arthropods have occupied the entire planet and the only way to hide from them is to lie down on the seabed, in the truest sense of the word. However, even there you run the risk of meeting spiders, and I do not mean Japanese spider crabs or other sea creatures like these terrible creatures.

Indeed, there is a species of spider that breathes air, but despite this, spend most of their life under water. And they do it using natural scuba gear - a small air bubble placed in a cocoon.

Silverfish or water spiders (lat.Argyroneta aquatica) weave special bell-shaped cocoons under water, into which air bubbles are placed, delivered from the surface at the tips of their abdomens. Thanks to this, the spider can stay under water until it needs to rise to the surface in order to replace the exhausted bubble with a new one.

The 'diving' cocoon is a nest of the silverfish, where the predator can while away his free time from hunting. However, this arthropod does not need a cocoon filled with air in order to plow the sea. The hairs of the abdomen of the silverfish are covered with a special fatty substance, thanks to which tiny air bubbles are trapped between them, which are the main sources of oxygen for these creatures.

As you can see from this cute and not at all scary photo, published in the New York Times, the abdomen of an underwater spider, which lays in ambush at the bottom of the reservoir, is indeed covered with thousands of air bubbles:

The silverfish owes its name to these tiny bubbles, thanks to which its belly appears silver under water.

And finally, some more interesting facts about these spiders.

The silver woman, like any other bloodthirsty killer, loves to hang trophies in her lair, which are the corpses of the creatures she has killed.

Despite the modest size of this spider (an adult male is only 15 mm in length), its bite, although not poisonous, is extremely painful.

The 'diving' cocoon of the female underwater spider is much larger than that of the male and can reach the size of a walnut. This is due to the fact that the female, among other things, lays eggs in the cocoon.

Some underwater forests of kelp (these are such delicious, delicious algae, better known to lovers of healthy food called seaweed) grow to a truly incredible size and in their density can only be compared with the impenetrable equatorial jungle.

In a matter of days, kelp is capable of germinating from a 45-meter depth to the surface of the water surface.

Unbelievable, but true, every day kelp grows 0.6-0.8 meters in length. Now imagine for a second what would happen to our world if these organic tentacles, hungry for photosynthesis, chose not the depths of the sea, but the land!

Such forests are widespread throughout the world. Just do not try to eat the kelp that you discovered during your research on the local stinky river, because the name seaweed is not without reason, and this plant can be found only off the coast, washed by the waters of the Japanese, Okhotsk and Caribbean seas.

Forests of algae ... “Fi”, - you say, - “And what's wrong with that: that's why they are algae to grow under water!”.

Logically, my wise friend!

But do not rush to close the page, because Next on our list of the most unusual things to see under water are forests of the most real trees to eat!

As you all know, trees need oxygen for life, which they cannot get under water, unless they acquire gills.

Hmm, by the way, an excellent idea, even in spite of its delusional nature, which in the 'hands' of a skilled science fiction writer can turn into an artistic masterpiece of 20 volumes of commercials, telling the story of a race of intelligent trees with gills living under water, who decided to destroy people, having learned that they make paper products for sanitary and hygienic purposes from their narrow-minded fellows growing on land.

In general, you get the point: no normal tree can grow under water! However, it may well be there already being in full bloom. For example, during the construction of hydroelectric power plants, entire forests are often flooded!

Let's take a closer look at the 400-meter lake Kaindy located in Kazakhstan, which is only 30 meters deep.

Trees originate at the bottom of the lake and rise upward, breaking through its dark waters.

From a geological point of view, this lake is very young, it was formed only in the last century, and the reason for this was the landslides of limestone rocks, after which the water flooded the formed funnel.

In the winter months, Lake Kaindy is covered with a crust of ice, which, in other words, does not stop many daredevils and hunters of beauty from visiting the underwater forest.

Until a certain point in time, such trees were safer under water than on land and could calmly rot their age, not fearing that one day they would be cut down by the hand of a tipsy woodcutter.

But that all changed with the invention of the Sawfish underwater robot, which, under the guidance of an experienced operator, can 'cut down' up to 10 underwater trees in an hour.

This unmanned underwater vehicle, capable of diving to a depth of 60 meters, after targeting a victim, saws off a barrel, which, with the help of an air cushion previously attached to it, rises to the surface.

What could be tastier than fish! And beer has nothing to do with it: now the conversation will be about birds, which, in their desire to feast on herring, or some other fish, fall on the water surface with the grace of an ax. For example, a bird with the proud name of cormorant.

But you already knew that! More than once or twice you have seen birds on TV, which submerged under water and in a moment appeared on the surface with prey.

However, you could hardly even imagine yourself that cormorants are able to dive to a depth of 30.5 meters and stay under water for more than 4 minutes!

Oddly enough, but creatures as far from the underwater kingdom as cormorants have several adaptations that allow them to feel comfortable underwater: a transparent blinking membrane, which serves as a natural analogue of diving glasses, a throat sac that plays the role of scuba gear, and the absence of external respiratory holes.

Cormorants can often be found at depths from 25 to 30.5 m, where, paddling with their wings, they imposingly swim between fish schools and shock the local sharks with their presence.

Often, 'walking' along the seabed, you can stumble upon the ruins of ancient cities.

And this is not surprising, because in the last 100 years alone, the sea level has risen by more than 26 meters.

Here are some examples of cities resting on the seabed:

And 110 kilometers from the eastern coast of Taiwan are the Yonaguni Islands, the main highlight of which are the underwater ruins of an ancient artifact, which is more than 8000 years old.

The artifact represents multi-ton slabs laid on top of each other at the right angle.

Many experts claim that this incredible structure is part of the continent of Mu (a hypothetical sunken continent of the Pacific Ocean, which became the cradle of life and the forefather of all world cultures), but archaeologists argue that the neatly laid slabs appeared as a result of a number of unexplained geological processes.

There are only 5 underwater museums in the world. The largest of them is considered to be the National Marine Park, which is located at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea, not far from the popular Mexican resort city of Cancun.

The exposition of the museum consists of 480 concrete sculptures, the main task of which is to distract the attention of tourists from the coral reefs, which are annually attacked by visiting vandals.

The filling of the Marine National Park with exhibits was led by renowned sculptor Jason de Caires Taylor, who had a hand in the creation of the world's first underwater sculpture park in Granada, Spain.

The statues of the museum, made of PH-neutral concrete, instantly became popular with mollusks and mosses and algae that sprouted on them, which favorably affects both the maintenance of the coral reef ecosystem and its further development. Over time, the statues will begin to grow coral and their original appearance will change.

“In just 5-10 years, this park will look like it has rested on the seabed since the days when dinosaurs ruled the Earth,” says Jason de Cares Taylor with pride in the fruits of his labor.

Ice stalactite (also called brineicl - from the English brine icicle, which in translation sounds like a sea icicle) is an amazing, but by no means rare, natural phenomenon that originates in the under-ice waters of the World Ocean. The formation of ice stalactites occurs when ultra-cold water currents from the surface break through the ice crust and penetrate into the warmer marine environment.

When the icicle falls on the ocean floor, it begins to dissolve its ice nets, from which no living creature can get out alive.

And the most courageous explorers of the deep sea will be able to look into the face of the abyss of the Pacific Ocean, the bottom of which is the deepest point on planet Earth.

Yes, you understood correctly, now we will once again talk about the Mariana Trench, which extends 10,971 meters deep into our planet.

Creatures dwelling at such depths are not able to survive in zones with weaker pressure, so they will literally be torn apart if you try to deliver them to the surface.

For more than 50 years, mankind has successfully plowed the vastness of near space, but it has descended to the bottom of the Mariana Trench only once, and then in the distant 1960. Therefore, we can only assume about all the riddles and secrets that this depth conceals in itself.

And finally, a video of ice fishing under the ice. If you do not understand what is wrong here, then I will tell you a secret that eccentric fishermen, dressed in float suits (something like a life jacket), perform all their actions under water, standing on the ice upside down.
