Many do not realize that many beautiful crafts can be made from ordinary napkins. The material will help you create a decoration for any holiday at no extra cost.

It will take a few minutes to complete the craft and even young children can create it. Kids will love making napkin appliqués, and they will help adults remember their childhood and colorfully decorate the room.

But how to make crafts from napkins with your own hands using scrap materials?

Special serving

Ordinary paper napkins can be found on every table, anywhere in the world. A rich imagination will allow you to create many different shapes from a napkin.

Origami is popular, with which you can make many swans or wonderful flowers. You can find many ways to create paper jewelry, which, thanks to the great possibilities, will allow you to create a wonderful craft.

On the Internet, you can find many photos of napkin crafts on any topic. Often there are figures made in the form of flowers.

Examples of creating paper flowers

Step-by-step instructions for making crafts from a regular napkin:

  • The green napkin is laid out in the shape of a triangle;
  • We install it in the glass, leaving both ends outside the glass;
  • Roll the yellow napkin in the same way and twist it to make a tube;
  • The lower side is folded and the flower is straightened;
  • The resulting rose is dipped into a glass with a green napkin.

Pocket for various cutlery:

  • A napkin from any angle is twisted into a tube to the center;
  • The tube is bent into two equal parts so that the holes remain in front;
  • On the opposite side, the edge is bent to the front side.

Children's crafts

Consider a few handicrafts made from napkins for children.

Dandelion

It will be interesting for children to create different shapes together with their parents.

Dandelion requires the following accessories:

  • PVA glue;
  • Paper;
  • Napkins;
  • Scissors;
  • Paint;
  • Stapler.

Making napkin crafts is an easy task that even kids can do. A stalk of a future dandelion is drawn on the sheet. A ball of the desired size is cut out of a yellow napkin, which is fixed in the middle with a stapler.

Scissors make cuts along the edges towards the center, and the resulting flower is glued to the paper. The green napkin will be dandelion leaves that stick to the stem.

After the glue has dried, it is necessary to straighten the flower by folding and pressing all the cut edges on a yellow napkin. You will get a fluffy flower that will delight adults and children with its appearance.

Butterfly

To create crafts you need:

  • Napkins;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue;
  • White paper;
  • Pencil.

A butterfly is drawn with a pencil on paper. The necessary pieces are cut out of the napkins so that they correspond to the size of the drawn butterfly. This will help to develop motor skills in babies and will be to their liking.

The resulting parts are glued to paper. The craft will turn out colorful, voluminous and will decorate the room.

Note!

Bird

For crafts you will need:

  • Colored paper;
  • Glue;
  • Cardboard;
  • Napkins;
  • Pencil;
  • Stapler.

A branch is drawn on cardboard with a pencil. Scissors cut the body of a bird from paper of various colors, which is glued to cardboard. A green napkin is cut into small pieces and rolled into small tubes.

The resulting tubes are glued to the contour of the branch. We cut out a ball from a red napkin, which we fix with a stapler in the center.

The edges are cut and the circle is glued to the body of the bird. The edges are straightened in the same way as dandelion to create volume.

Room decoration with napkins

From napkins and a stapler and scissors, you can create many different flowers. To make a peony, you need several napkins.

Small napkin craft instructions:

  • A circle is cut with waves around the edges;
  • Scissors make an incision towards the center;
  • The middle is fixed with a stapler;
  • The cuts along the edges are straightened in any order.

Note!

You can cut out beautiful numbers from cardboard and decorate them with napkins. A number is created from cardboard and pasted over with paper. It can be pasted over with newspaper and covered with a primer. Next, corrugated paper is glued onto the figure.

We create flowers using the peony method or another method. For one flower, you need several colored napkins. The lesson will take some time, but it will be worth it.

Circles are cut out of colored napkins, fastened in the middle and straightened along the edges. Flowers are glued to the number in random order.

The created craft will serve as an excellent decoration for any holiday.

Note!

Good afternoon, my dear friends!

Today I am sharing with you my new experience, it will be a napkin holder made of disks. I will tell you how you can make a napkin holder from CD / DVD discs. By themselves, discs are now little used. But I am sure that many have them idle. I, too, like a hamster, did not throw them away, I hoped that they would come in handy on the farm. And now, finally, I found a use for them. In one of the past master classes, I decorated. in techniques - Decoupage and Pape-art. Therefore, I decided to make a napkin holder in the same style, so to speak, a set.

CD / DVD napkin holder

For work I needed:

  • CD / DVD discs - 3 pcs;
  • Napkins;
  • PVA glue;
  • Glue gun;
  • Acrylic paint, gold;
  • Acrylic paint, white;
  • Acrylic varnish;
  • Wine stopper.

I want to say right away that this napkin holder was decorated in the same way as the bottles. Therefore, in this master class, I will not describe in detail Decoupage and Paper Art, only a general principle. More details of the decor itself, you can see

And so, two discs will go to the walls of the napkin holder, one disc will be the basis.

At the disc, I cut off one part. She attached a metal ruler and ran a clerical knife several times. When the cut deepened, I simply broke the disc. I did the same with the second disc. These will be the sides of the napkin holder.

Cut off the edge

I cut off the edges of the third disk, this will be the base of the napkin holder.

Cut off two pieces

In the middle of the disks, with PVA glue, I glued small circles of polyethylene. I did this so that the holes would not break through.

Cutting polyethylene circles

I diluted PVA glue with water and using the Decoupage technique, pasted napkins on the disks.

Pasted a napkin

Now you need to let the napkin dry (to speed up the process, I constantly used a hairdryer).

Then, the middle, where the polyethylene, was painted with white acrylic paint. Painted, only from the outside, there will be a drawing. When the paint dried, I cut out two drawings from the Decoupage napkin and glued it with acrylic varnish.

After the varnish had dried, everything (except for the drawings, of course) was covered with blue acrylic paint. For uniformity, I painted it a second time. Dried it out. And with gold paint I went over the whole blue background.

I pasted the pictures and painted them with blue paint

It remains only to apply tissue cords (Pape-art). This is probably the most painstaking part of the job. But on the other hand, due to the flagella, the napkin holder will turn out to be elegant and delicate. I did paper-art, so far, only on the sides. I will decorate the bottom after I glue the sides.

Glued tissue cords

The decoration of the napkin holder is over, it remains to assemble it.

With a stationery knife, I cut the wine cork into four parts.

Cut the wine cork

And covered them with gold paint.

Covered the corks with gold paint

On one side (from the inside), I glued two plugs with a glue gun. They will serve as napkin restraints.

Then, I applied glue to the other sides of the plugs, and glued the second side. To get it straight, first, I put the sidewall with corks, tried on, applied glue and attached the second sidewall.

Glued two plugs to the sidewalls

Now, quickly and accurately, I applied hot melt glue to the lower edges of the sidewalls and glued to the base.

Glued the sides to the base

It remains only to make the "legs" at the napkin holder. The remaining two mugs, with a glue gun, glued to the bottom of the napkin holder. And the protruding parts of the base, decorated with napkin flagella.

Everything, a napkin holder from disks, is ready.

Well, now complete with spice bottles.

Discs napkin holder complete with bottles

So, from disks, you can make a do-it-yourself napkin holder.

Friends, if my master class was useful to you, share it with your friends!

A napkin holder, or a napkin holder, is an indispensable attribute of a festive, and not only festive, table. Made from a variety of materials, these gizmos are designed to please the eye as they serve as a napkin holder.

Of course, you can buy a ready-made item, but a do-it-yourself napkin holder looks much more interesting on the table.

A little about the history of napkins

Napkins appeared more than three hundred years ago, they were sewn from expensive fabrics, decorated with embroidery, and were used by noble, wealthy people. Over time, with the development of manufactories, napkins began to be used by different segments of the population. These beautifully decorated things, most often embroidered, were used at celebrations, they were carefully kept and passed on from generation to generation.

Then the napkin folded in a certain way was threaded into a special ring and in this form was laid near the cutlery. Nowadays, also on solemn occasions, linen napkins threaded into a ring are used, which give the set table a solemn look.

Over time, disposable paper napkins appeared, which we all actively use. Many different items are used for, and a beautiful napkin holder is one of them.

Plywood napkin holders

Nowadays, not so many people are interested in cutting out of plywood. In the middle of the twentieth century, when there were not only computers, but also televisions in apartments were a rarity, many in their free time sawed a variety of things from plywood with a jigsaw, decorating their life. Now they are already sawing not only with a jigsaw, but laser cutting is also used, and napkin holders made of MDF, made by laser cutting, have recently been often seen on tables.

A napkin holder made of plywood, the drawings of which are not at all difficult to find, like other things, is carried out slowly, with love. The warmth of the hands and soul of the person who made such a craft brings joy to the house. It is always pleasant to look at a thing made with your own hands, and if such a product decorates the table when it is served, then it is doubly.

Previously, there were albums with cutting patterns. The plywood napkin holder, drawings and drawings of which could be found in such an album in full size, took a long time to complete. First, the drawing was copied onto plywood, then parts were cut along the contour. Sometimes the drawing changed along the way, but very rarely, special attention was paid to small details.

The finished thing was assembled from several parts, polished, varnished, stored in a house in a conspicuous place, shown to guests, and often used.

Newspaper napkin holder

A do-it-yourself napkin holder can be made from a variety of materials, including from tubes rolled from old newspapers. Now this hobby has spread quite quickly. Christmas-tree decorations are made from old newspapers, cut into pieces in a certain way and rolled into dense tubes, hats, baskets, hot coasters, even Easter eggs are weaved from them. These tubes are very comfortable, they do not break, they are easy to work with, they fit well and are attached to each other. You can weave both in a straight and spiral way.

A do-it-yourself napkin holder made of newspaper tubes looks very original and is easy to do.

CD napkin holder

Now that writing discs is possible at home, a write glitch can make the disc unreadable. Used, already unnecessary disks are often given a second life by craftsmen. They are used to make chandeliers, lamps, watch dials, boxes and much more.

A do-it-yourself napkin holder made from CDs will emphasize the individuality of the performer and will be an original gift.

Any person can make such a napkin holder, the main thing is desire. You can also design it in different ways. The photo above shows one option, but the discs can be painted, another picture can be pasted, in general, there is a lot of room for imagination.

Napkin holders from different materials

People make napkin holders with their own hands from cardboard, sheathing it with beautiful fabric.

There are craftsmen who create beautiful napkin holders from plastic bottles of detergents.

And there are amateurs who make napkin holders from napkins. There are even napkin holders made of clothespins, and very original ones.

Such products can be of very different shapes: round, square, rectangular, asymmetrical.

And lovers of creativity are engaged not because there is no money to buy a ready-made thing, but because the soul asks to do something original, such that others do not have.

Conclusion

Ready-made napkin holders in a huge selection, from a variety of materials, both factory-made and hand-made, can be bought in stores.

But the napkin holder, made and painted with your own hands (if necessary), bears the imprint of the individuality of the person who made it, the warmth of his heart and soul.

And such a thing is always in demand and brings a lot of joy to both the one who did it and the one to whom it was presented.

A trifle, but nice. Something like this you can react to a gift in the form of an unusual paper napkin holders, which you yourself cannot buy, considering it an extra waste of money, but I would like to put it on the table for beauty. Designers have invented a huge variety of creative, original and custom napkin holders, and in our today's review - hot ten the very best.

Napkin holder for a bullfighter

On the one hand - a brave daredevil with a red scarf, on the other - his dangerous horned opponent. Probably, at the sight of this original napkin holder, not only I remembered the famous song about a bullfighter who needs to be bolder into battle. Well, or another song about a bull and a matador, performed by sweet-voiced Malinin. One way or another, and this image was very successfully embodied in Artori Design in the design of a creative stand, and if you put red napkins in it, the image of the bullfighter will be complete, and the bull is dangerous and ready for battle.

"Bloody" napkin holder

Bloodshed also happens in the kitchen, especially if the knife is too sharp, the sausage is too hard, and the hostess is awkward. The Dripping Napkin Holder, made by Artori Design, reminds of these possible bloodsheds. What kind of blood is destined to be shed, red human, green alien or blue, like the representatives of the nobility and other intelligentsia, depends on the color of the napkins laid in this unusual napkin holder.

Feminine napkin holder

A glamorous young lady named Servietta, the creation of Swiss designers, will join the intelligentsia, who gathered to discuss the latest premiere of the theatrical season, talk about art and read poems by contemporary poets. But seriously, the Servietta napkin holder will greatly diversify the set table, and will gracefully decorate it throughout the evening.

Kitchen man napkin holder

Spoons and forks, as well as napkins - when creating this funny kitchen man, the author did not use anything superfluous. Nothing that would cause surprise, especially in the kitchen. But at the same time, the non-standard use of standard household items always surprises, delights and pleases lovers of everything unusual and original.

Another man-shaped napkin holder

Two loneliness met. And as soon as they were about to embrace, they were separated by a wall .... A wall of multi-colored paper napkins. The original stand called Wooddy paper napkin holder was invented by Polish designer Alan Wisniewski.

Stand "Brooklyn Bridge"

In the past few years, Lego constructors have been used not only for toy houses, cars and fortresses. Often the bricks of this constructor are used for larger and more useful products. For example, the original Brooklyn Bridge napkin holder is entirely made of Lego.

Stand "Knight's Castle"

If necessary, the napkin holder can be sewn by hand. However, the knight's castle, in which the paper napkins are laid, was not sewn from canvas by a master needlewoman, but sculpted from plastic, which only looks like a cloth.

No, these are not napkins so huge that they occupy the entire seat of a comfortable wooden chair for a summer cottage or a veranda. This is such a small chair, an original napkin holder, reminding that summer is coming, vacation, the opportunity to sit on the seashore in such a chair, blissfully listen to the surf and enjoy the sea breeze.

Sail napkins on a boat stand

Following up on the previous stand for paper napkins - light, unusual, original sailboats made of wood. If desired, they can become "Scarlet Sails" from a fairy tale, "Black Pearl", a pirate frigate ... It is only important to choose napkins of the desired color.

Jewish napkin holder

And finally - a napkin holder that will appeal to all those who have Shabbat today. The Star of David can be of any color, since it is formed by paper napkins folded in a triangle, and the color and appearance of this traditional Jewish symbol depends only on them.

We do not always manage to find the necessary and suitable accessories for the interior of the kitchen, bedroom or living room. Fortunately, you can always make them yourself. Homemade accessories will fit perfectly into the design of the room. Their additional plus is that such a thing will be unique. We will look at the process of creating the most popular options - cardboard napkin holders, discs and chipboard. It's easy enough to make them.

Made of cardboard

You can create such a napkin holder very quickly, and you do not need any special skills.

The assembly template for our cardboard napkin holder is very simple. Having created such an accessory, you will simultaneously master several basic techniques of the cartoning technique. In the future, they will help you make beautiful and unusual decorative boxes, boxes and much more.

Materials and tools

We need all this for work.

  • Thick cardboard 3-4 millimeters thick;
  • Colored paper (needed for interior and exterior decoration). Approximately 3 A4 sheets;
  • PVA glue;
  • Reliable glue for gluing parts ("Moment" will do). The most convenient way is to use a hot glue gun;
  • Mounting tape (in other words, kraft tape);
  • Scissors;
  • Roller knife (if not available, use a regular clerical knife);
  • Ruler, marker or pencil, compasses, glue brush;
  • Self-healing cutting mat (if not, take care of the safety of the table in other ways);
  • Metal stationery clips or ordinary clothespins.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Take thick cardboard and cut out 4 semi-circular blanks (for the walls) and 2 rectangular (for the bottom) from it. You can determine the size of the blanks yourself, this also applies to the shape.
  2. Start connecting the parts. Take a wide mounting tape and glue all the joints of the bottom and walls with it. The tape should hold them together from the outside and from the inside.
  3. Draw a circle around the shape of the blank on a piece of colored paper. Then make an allowance of at least 4 centimeters on each side.
  4. Bend the colored paper and glue the cardboard blank from the outside with it. To do this, use PVA glue. Try to keep the paper free of bumps and wrinkles.
  5. Then make 4 notches on the cover. To do this, with a marker or pencil, extend the line of the inner fold of your napkin holder for allowances and make cuts along it, slightly not reaching the end of the part (about 3-4 millimeters). Also make cuts diagonally to the edge of the garment.
  6. Glue the allowance to the inside of the napkin holder. Next, cut the side parts of the "cover" in the same way. Lay the garment on its side and make a straight cut from the fold line. Step 4 millimeters from the edge and finish off with a triangular cut.
  7. Make jagged cuts around the edges, not cutting slightly to the edge of the cardboard part (about 4 centimeters). If this is not done, sloppy gaps may appear at the end.
  8. Glue these teeth to the inside. For the glue to take better, press down on the folds for a while with clothespins or clerical pins.
  9. While the main part dries, return to the rest of the cardboard blanks. They should fit inside your napkin holder. Therefore, make them a little smaller by cutting off about 2 millimeters from the flat side of each semicircular piece and one edge of the rectangle. Don't forget to test the fitted version by trying to put them inside the napkin holder.
  10. For the inside of your product, use any other colored paper. Glue the blanks to the paper, leaving seizures of at least 2 centimeters on each side. Cut the edges at a 45 ° angle and make zigzag cuts along the rounded edge of both pieces, also just short of the edge of the template.
  11. Glue the side parts of the bottom part, leave the long parts free. Bend and glue all available allowances on the side parts.
  12. Now you just have to connect the outer and inner parts of your product. To do this, first glue the bottom so that the allowances that were not previously glued are fixed on the side walls. Then attach the side pieces using Moment glue.

Helpful Hint: You can decorate your napkin holder not only with colored paper, but also with any cotton cloth. The sequence of work remains unchanged, however, before attaching the fabric to the napkin holder, glue plain white paper to the blank.

Completed napkin holder, congratulations!

From disks

This napkin holder will decorate the interior of your kitchen.

Now let's consider another very interesting option for creating a napkin holder. It will consist of CDs, which are sure to be present in considerable quantities at every person's home. Believe me, even if this is your first time doing something like this, everything will work out the first time! You do not need any special skills, because everything is very simple.

Materials and tools

All this is required for us to work

To make such a napkin holder from compact discs, you will need the following materials:

  • CDs (2 pieces);
  • Scissors;
  • Ruler;
  • Marker or pencil;
  • Several sheets of colored paper;
  • Thick cardboard of any color;
  • PVA glue;
  • Moment glue;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Varnish to cover the finished product;
  • Decorative elements at your discretion (in our example, there will be ribbons and butterflies).

If you don't have any of the above materials at hand, it doesn't matter, they can always be replaced with any others.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. The first thing you need to do is trim the discs. They will serve as the basis for your napkin holder, so decide how high it should be. Mark the desired location with a marker (preferably a permanent one) and draw a straight line with a ruler.
  2. Take scissors and carefully cut the disc along the marked edges. The first time it is better to do this with a small allowance, so that if there are any irregularities, you can then trim them.
  3. Prepare some small newspaper scraps.
  4. Using PVA glue, glue the holes on the discs on both sides. Start attaching a few layers of newspaper. Be sure to carefully coat each layer with glue. Set them aside until dry. Please note that unevenness may appear on the surface while the glue dries. Try to gently spread them out with your hands while the base is still damp, and make sure that this problem does not recur until the end of drying.
  5. While the discs are drying, work on the bottom of the napkin holder. Take cardboard (it is better if it is dense), which will give the desired shape and stability to your product. If there is no thick cardboard at hand, you can glue the thinner one in several layers with PVA glue. After that, the density will be sufficient.
  6. After the cardboard is completely dry, it will become stable and durable.
  7. Now start decorating your napkin holder. In our example, this is colored gift paper. Cut a couple of pieces to the same size as the sides of the piece. Make the other 2 parts 5 millimeters larger on each side, leaving room for the fold.
  8. Using PVA glue, glue the side parts of the napkin holder.
  9. Start decorating. At this stage, show your imagination. You can use absolutely any materials and objects that are at home - for example, beads, beads, lace, ribbons, bows, etc. In our example, decoupage napkins with butterflies are used. Glue the selected decorative element with PVA glue.
  10. After the bottom of the napkin holder is completely dry and hard, glue it over with colored paper.
  11. Now put all the parts together. To do this, use a silicone gun or Moment glue.
  12. Cover the craft with several coats of varnish. You can use glossy if you want the surface of the napkin holder to be shiny. But, in principle, this item is optional.
  13. Continue decorating. Cover the bottom of the product with bulky tape. The tape joint can be hidden under other decorative elements.

Helpful information: Please note that when applying the varnish, it can pick up in stripes. Do not worry - when it is completely dry, they will come off, and the surface will be perfectly flat.

Chipboard

Such a napkin holder can be presented to a girl on February 14

Finally, we bring to your attention another option for creating a napkin holder. It is made of chipboard. Immediately, we note that this material can be successfully replaced by ordinary plywood.

Materials (edit)

  • Chipboard sheet;
  • Jigsaw;
  • Drill
  • Sandpaper;
  • Wood glue;
  • Paint.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Draw the outlines of the future product. Its length in our example is 145x75 millimeters, its depth is 28 millimeters.
  2. Use a jigsaw to make the first piece.
  3. We start cutting out the heart in the center of the napkin holder. To do this, first drill a hole. Insert a file into it and cut out a shape in the shape of a heart. Optionally, you can choose any other shape of the cutout.
  4. Having made the first blank, mark with a pencil the outlines for cutting out the second half of the napkin holder.
  5. Decide what width the connecting strips will have. The best option is from 12 to 15 millimeters. Cut them out.
  6. Check the received set of blanks for "compatibility". Combine all the pieces. If necessary, trim off any excess overhangs that get in the way.
  7. Sand the edges of the blanks with sandpaper.
  8. Check the prefabricated structure again. If everything is perfect, glue the pieces together with wood glue. Let the parts dry. When gluing, you can squeeze the walls of the product with a clamp.
  9. Finally, paint the item any color you like. In our example, we used red paint.

Helpful Information: If you want to create a Provence style napkin holder, use white paint, and then rub it a little with sandpaper. Note that you can paint over and grind all the parts separately, even before joining.
