You can make a voluminous cardboard pendant on a Christmas tree using another technique. We form a New Year's character from cardboard and colored paper. You can make a lot of beautiful New Year's crafts from toilet paper rolls. You can make smart Santa Clauses like in the left photo below. Please note that the beard on this craft is made of white lace. And the cap on the head is made of fabric (you can use crumpled colored crepe paper).
But the snowmen (on the right photo below) - you can make headphones from fluffy wire brushes. Scarves made of pieces of fabric, and stick real buttons.
But the craft is an angel. Very delicate and easy to make. We cover the roll in paint of two colors - pink gouache at the top, white at the bottom. For the wing we take lace paper napkin(for lack of such, you can simply cut an openwork snowflake out of paper) fold it in half and glue it to the back of an angel.
The most interesting thing is the angel's hairstyle - it only looks complicated, but in fact - the upper part of the hairstyle is ordinary circle of yellow paper, which around the circumference cut into fringe- these fringes descend to the side of the roll in the form of a circular bang. On the sides we add strips of paper, first we wind the lower part of each strip on a pencil (or we draw a scissor blade over them so that they themselves twist into a tight curl). Toilet rolls can also be used to make fancy Christmas tree crafts.
Here is an interesting idea for a round herringbone cut from a roll. We take the roll, flatten it into a plane, draw the legs of the Christmas tree on the sides of this plane, cut them out, and then flatten the roll back into a circle again. We glue rhinestones and an asterisk.
Or a roll can only be used as a leg, a stand for a flat Christmas tree made of cardboard.
And the roll makes great penguins. - the rolls before the craft must be covered with thick black gouache. And so that during the application, children's hands do not get dirty with black paint and do not contaminate other parts of the craft, we must COVER our BLACK ROLLS WITH HAIR SPRAY - so the paint will shine and stop staining their hands with black soot.
You can draw familiar features of your favorite cartoon character on rolls (as is done with the snowmen from the cartoon Frozen).
Or you can decorate the craft with additional cutting elements - as is done with the example of deer from the right photo below. Here we cut out the crotch between the legs of the deer (in order for these legs, in fact, to appear). And we also cut off the top of the roll - leaving the tail-neck - on this bent tail we will glue the silhouette of the head.

You can cut petals from starched dyed burlap and fold a flower. Burlap can be glued to cardboard and cut out the silhouette of an owl - add appliqués of wings and eyes with a beak.
From an inconspicuous-looking burlap, you can make very delicate beautiful crafts for the new year. For example, this mitten has acquired New Year's chic thanks to lace, beads, bells and sprigs of needles.
A simple piece of gray fabric can sparkle in the rays of your imagination. And turn into a deer with horns-twigs or a cute New Year's bird.
You can cut stars out of a rough canvas - simply by sticking them onto cardboard (as in the left photo below).
Or by folding the diamond-shaped beams of the modules from burlap and folding them into a star (as in the right photo below).
You can glue a regular toilet paper roll with a piece of burlap and decorate with a red cardboard edging and colored paper applique. And we will get a cute Christmas tree basket craft. Simple and interesting work for the kindergarten competition.
You can stretch burlap like a canvas on a picture frame and draw a New Year's picture on it. Such a New Year's children's craft can be safely carried to a competition in a school or kindergarten. She will decorate any exhibition of New Year's works for children.

And here are crafts from ordinary boxes. LITTLE boxes of tea, cookies, toothpaste, cream, medicine are good. For large crafts, LARGE juice boxes, shoe boxes or office paper boxes will do.
A nose, a shaggy Christmas tree, ears made of colored paper, horns made of thick branches of a tree - and here we have a New Year's craft deer. Or stick a nose, eyes, buttons on a box pasted over with white paper, tie it with a scarf and put on a hat - we get a simple snowman craft.
By the same principle, any rectangular surface of the box can be decorated with Santa Claus, penguin, and any New Year's character.
You can turn the box into a snowy toy house.

And here are crafts-applications for the New Year. You can make small curly applications on a cardboard rolled into a roll - as toys for pendants on a New Year's tree.
The simplest applique for school or kindergarten is a snowman. But it doesn't have to be done in traditional technique. You can show your imagination and make a snowman from non-standard materials - gypsum plaster, diluted in water, or from finely chopped crumpled paper.
Children's New Year's craft-applique can be multi-layered. And it doesn't have to be done on a rectangular piece of paper. On the contrary, children's crafts will look more elegant if they are executed on a round sheet of cardboard. And glue the edges of the sheet with paper lace, cut off from a large paper snowflake.
And here are some more examples of volumetric convex craft applications. Any character who has a muzzle or face can be made in the form of a volumetric applique, if a triangular DUCT is provided on the silhouette of the face. You can see these darts on the templates below.
We simply cut them with scissors (we make an incision only on one side of the dart) - and then glue the side of the dart under the notch (hiding the dart in the gluing).

New Year's crafts WIPES.
But New Year's crafts that can decorate your festive table. The fact is that the Santa Clauses, which we see below, are nozzles for table napkins.
In the first case (in the left photo below), we make a bag out of emergency paper, on it we glue a beige face, white mustache, white edging of the cap (but we don’t make a beard). Next, we take a white napkin, fold it like a beard and thread it inside the bag - part of the white napkin sticks out of the bag, reminding Santa Claus's beard.
In the second case (in the right photo below), we cut out a white circle from thick white paper (or cardboard). Draw a face, a nose, and a mustache on the upper side of the circle. AND WE MAKE A CUT over the straight line of the face. Fold a large red table napkin with a sharp triangle and insert the sharp end of the triangle into the slot - stretch it out and get ... at the top (above the slot) part of the napkin looks like a red cap ... below, under the beard, a part of the red napkin looks like Santa Claus's fur coat.
A simple craft that your children will really like, especially since you can make several such crafts for all guests invited to the festive New Year's table.

New Year's WRAPPING.
And here are the ideas of children's simple crafts, where a cardboard silhouette is wrapped with colored threads or thin ribbons of bright colors. So you can wrap a triangle with threads, sew a couple of rhinestones or beads on it and we will get an elegant Christmas tree craft.
You can pull the threads through the holes (punctures with a hole punch) - as in the snowflake craft from the left photo.
Or thread the threads through the slits-slits - as on round Christmas tree decorations from the right photo below.
You can combine any New Year's idea with a thread winding technique. And get original and simple crafts for kids. As for example, this is implemented on crafts with the NEW YEAR'S DEER from the photo below.
The brighter and juicier the color of the threads, the brighter and more festive your children's craft will be. Bright ribbons, glue rhinestones and stars cut from dense foil will only add completeness to the thread craft.

For a competition in a kindergarten or school, you can make a craft on a larger scale. For example, a beautiful New Year's pendant.
The general sense of such a craft is that there should be a large part-holder at the top and smaller elements of the general craft design should come from it on strings.
You can hang a variety of pendant crafts from a lamp or window cornice. Making them from open paper napkins for pastry (as in the photo below) is very simple and quick.
Even from the pages of muculature, you can make bright New Year's crafts-pendants. There would be a desire, and a little time. Everything is really simple. And even from the photo it is clear how these paper modules are made and how they are assembled into one central round - just with glue.

New Year's wreaths.
And here is one of my favorite themes for children's New Year's crafts. Children just jump up and down with pleasure when you offer them such a serious craft. They like the donut-shaped format and like that as a result, their work can be used as a real New Year's decoration, which is hung on the door of their family from year to year.
In this article, I’ll give just a few ideas for getting started. But in the future I plan to make a separate article on children's crafts-wreaths for the New Year, and then the link will work here.
For now, let's take a look at the basic ideas for creating a base for Christmas wreaths. We will make the base in the form of a donut. A standard A4 cardboard sheet will be small in circumference. Therefore, the base for such a wreath can be cut from a large sheet of corrugated packaging cardboard - a pizza box is ideal.
If there are no large cardboard sheets (especially if you are preparing such a craft for a whole group of a kindergarten), then you can cut out SEMI-CIRCUES separately from cardboard, and then use tape to connect them into one solid ring. So that at the place of gluing-joining of half rings no flimsy fold we must strengthen the gluing place by slipping pieces of hard cardboard under it.
And we already give such a ready-made, wrapped blank to the child and let him figure out how to decorate his wreath. You can offer him templates or ready-made cutouts and decoration options.
Or you can make pretty wreaths out of double-sided green cardboard - like this - with a bright red paper bow.
You do not need to wrap the donut base if it is completely covered with a finishing applique, as it was done in the Christmas wreath for children from the photo below.
Or you can not glue the wreath ring, not wrap it, but paint over with gouache. Dry and paste over with applications - for example, such snowmen-snowflakes.
Also, a regular paper or plastic plate can serve as the basis for a Christmas wreath ring. We cut out the bottom from it and then decorate according to our design idea.
The wreath can be wrapped quickly with thick woolen threads. Or knitted threads (from knitted fabric cut into strips. You can decorate such a wreath with natural material, figures made of thick felt, cardboard appliqués.

New Year's crafts from felt.

You can make quick bright crafts from dense felt. Here is a snowflake candlestick it is created from a flat sheet of felt. I just adjusted the diagram below to fit a felt sheet of 30 by 30 cm. But you can reduce the picture to a size convenient for you by copying it onto a Word sheet and pulling the corners of the image.
If you buy green felt of two or three shades of green, then you will quickly make such a Christmas tree with your own hands - a craft consisting of flat pancakes, which are slightly pulled together with a needle in the center (to get a wavy disk surface).
That is, in the center of a round made of felt, draw a small circle with chalk, go along it with stitches from a thread - and then we pull these circular stitches (so that a bulge is obtained in the center (like a hat with large brims). We make the same discs with a tie in the center - of different sizes , alternating shades of green and collect our Christmas tree as a pyramid.

New Year's crafts from PLATES.
Plastic plates can be used to make not only bases for Christmas wreaths, but also any New Year's characters. The round shape of the plate easily turns into the face of a snowman, deer, Santa Claus, a penguin.
You can cut the plate as you like - for any of your ideas. If the round shape is not your imagination for the New Year's craft, change this shape. Make a semicircle - and now the face of Santa Claus with a raised beard appears.
Cut the circle of the plate into quarters - and here they are unobtrusively folded into a herringbone. It remains to take green paint and colored beads.
You can cut a truncated trapezoid from the circle of the plate and turn it into the head of a Christmas deer.

And here are the ideas of the most inexpensive crafts for the New Year. Regular paper egg cassettes. Their convex rows of cells will help give birth to many New Year's crafts. Your imagination will breathe life into these cardboard honeycombs - and bright colors will give new life to the old packaging.
If you work as a kindergarten teacher, then you can find this material on the first floor of the kindergarten, several large egg cassettes are thrown out in the kitchen every day. The chefs will gladly become your regular suppliers of this creative material.
You can cut several rows of cells from the box at once - and turn them into a bright Christmas tree, they drank a convex snowman.
You can cut out individual bottoms of the cells and fold the pyramid of a snowman from them.
You don't have to cut the box at all and make a team of New Year's reindeer with a sleigh for Santa Claus out of the intact one.
Even one small cell can become a cute Christmas craft - a tiny mingwin or a little deer.
And to make the little ones look like a solid children's work, they can be surrounded by decorations - a winter surroundings. Christmas trees or ice floes as in the case of penguins. Pieces of ice can be cut out of foamed plastic - such inserts are in your winter boots, or they are used as spacers when transporting fragile goods or technical devices. Or you can just go to the hardware store (or to the construction department of the market 
a) and buy a meter of thick insulation for the walls there - it also has such a structure.

And we can also make a craft from a material that is convenient in design - round fans folded from paper. The simplest design is a Christmas tree. Here we put the fans on top of each other in a festive pyramid - we get a Christmas tree with our own hands.
Here is a visual workshop showing the general principle of creating all round fans. The main thing is to take a VERY LONG strip - so that its length in the folded accordion form is enough for rounding.
If you do not have such a long strip, you can fold 2 separate strips, and then glue them into one common long snake accordion.
And by the way, if you make a pattern on such an accordion on its edges - and on its tips - then when you turn the fan into a round shape, we will get an openwork snowflake. Also, an independent New Year's craft with your own hands is obtained.
Paper fans can be used as decorative elements in the design of multilayer Christmas tree decorations made of paper.
And also you can turn on your imagination and invent original New Year's volumetric applications from such paper fans.
The simplest thing to do quickly and easily with your own hands is making a Christmas wreath. Just the base is a cardboard ring and a bunch of decorative fans to decorate the donut-base of the wreath.
These are the ideas you found today for yourself and your children. Now the matter remains small. Assess the material available at home. And get to work.
