A year and a half ago I knitted a jumper for a 1 year old boy (my friend's son). The boy grew out of him, he urgently needs a new and bigger one))). This time I was asked to knit a sweater with a collar that covers my throat.

A few words about yarn. I was asked to knit from the same as the first jumper. This is BIANCA baby lux from YarnArt (150 m / 50 g). I bought a yarn with the same name and was surprised by the changes in its composition: 40% wool and 60% acrylic, and last time it was 45% wool and 55% premium acrylic:

This time the yarn was worse. Two of the 5 skeins had thread breaks and shedding heavily during washing. And the labels are slightly different:

It took me about 4.5 skeins for this sweater.

Description of knitting a raglan sweater on top

To make the correct calculation of raglan loops, you need to calculate the knitting density. We knit a sample from the yarn and the knitting needles with which we will knit the product. The sample should be washed (or wetted) and dried, and then the density should be measured.

I got it: 31 sts x 35.5 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm

Those. 3.1 sts in 1 cm.

After determining the knitting density, you need to measure the circumference of the neck. In the absence of a 3-year-old boy next to me, when knitting a sweater, I was guided by the children's sizes indicated in this plate:

So, the neck circumference of a 3-year-old child is approximately 27 cm. Let's add 1.5 cm so that the sweater can be worn freely. It turned out 28.5 cm.Multiply by 3.1 (the number of loops in 1 cm) = 88.35 p. (Round up to 88 p.)

Each of my raglan lines consists of 2 face loops, that is, all these loops 8. (2 p. x 4 lines p.)

Subtract them from the total number of loops: 88 - 8 = 80.

This amount must be divided into 8 parts (10 points each). Two of these parts will go to the sleeves - 10 sts each, and 3 parts, i.e. 30 sts each - on the back and in front.
