How to make a pencil holder with your own hands: a master class

I'll show you how to make a pencil holder with cute My Neighbor Totoro characters. In fact, this technology can be applied to any kind of pencil holders.

To create a pencil holder you will need:

  1. Tin can (from under any canned food)
  2. Any fabric of your choice for wrapping the jar (I used fleece and mickey fleece)
  3. Felt for finishing
  4. Threads in the color of the fabric
  5. Scissors
  6. Glue with a thin nose, or a glue gun
  7. Plastic eyes
  8. A piece of synthetic winterizer

First of all, you will need to measure:

  • can circumference,
  • can height,
  • bottom diameter.

In accordance with the measurements obtained, cut out rectangles from the fabric in 2 parts with the parameters: (can height + 0.5 cm seam allowances) x (circumference + allowance).

For both rectangles, first sew the back seam (with a “back needle” seam or on sewing machine) to form a closed surface. Sew the bottom to the rectangle along the contour. Turn one part out and leave the other.

Set aside the resulting cylinders. Now cut out 18 paired animal parts from the fabric - in my case, small totors. I don’t give patterns, since it’s easy to draw the outline yourself - an oval with ears))

Sew paired parts together, you get 9 animals (do not forget about the holes for eversion).

In place of future eyes, draw dots and make cuts crosswise, as in the photo.

Turn the animals inside out and stuff with padding polyester.

And now add a little glue along the contour to the holes obtained. Be careful - then you have to insert eyes into the holes. Insert until the side of the eyes is completely buried in the fur.

Sew up the hole at the bottom.

wow, eyeball

Sheathe the jar with details from the padding polyester with a seam "over the edge". This is necessary so that the pencil holder does not knock on the table. You can skip this step if you wish.

First, sew the edges of the padding polyester wrapped around the jar. Sew on the bottom too.

Pull one of the cylinder pieces onto the outside of the can. In my case, it does not reach the top edge a little - a special effect.

At the bottom of the pencil holder I also put a synthetic winterizer (I glued it so that it would not move out).

Insert the second (not inside out) cylinder inside the stand. If desired, you can also drop a little glue on the bottom so that the inside is fixed.

sew on blind seam one cylinder to another.

I get such a pencil box)) If you wish, you can stop at this stage or decorate the product according to the description further.

Glue or sew all the animals over the entire surface.

Cut out a few leaves from felt and embroider characteristic lines on them with a “back needle” seam. Glue the leaves to the resulting pencil case. You can also embroider patterns on the bunnies themselves.

We love the result

An Apple

Very interesting way make a stand for pencils - take a jar, liquid acrylic paints, paper, a plate, a cord and an artificial petal with a glue gun.

Pour paint into a jar and shake. Drain off any remaining paint and let dry. File the edges if necessary. Wrap the thread with cord and decorate with a leaf - voila

lego guy

The method is identical to the previous one, only at the end you will need to apply a face with a black permanent marker.

Minion

Meet the favorite of all the kids!) Here you will need a tin and a colored EVA polymer (foamed rubber, which can be purchased in the form of plastics in craft stores). By the way, the polymer can be replaced with soft felt.

Cut out all the details according to the template and wrap the jar with a yellow rectangle. From the inside, also glue a rectangle to hide the metal part. Glue the muzzle, panties. Don't forget the mouth.

From plastic bottles

Pears

To make these cute pencil holders, all you need is a few oblong bottles, scissors, tape, acrylic paints, and a photo frame to mount (optional).

Cut off the threads of the bottle and cut out part of the top, as in the photo. Seal the central part with tape on both sides, leaving an empty space in the middle. Paint the empty space and decorate with the remaining lids, also painted. You can glue it to the frame, or you can leave it as it is.

Monsters

This is where the shampoo bottle comes in handy. Cut off her top with a lid, choosing the shape you want. Cut out the handles from the rest. Glue funny faces made of felt or paper.

From cardboard and paper

cylinders

The easiest way to make a cardboard pencil holder is to take cylinders from clothes rollers, paper towel rolls, or toilet paper. Wrap them up newsprint, glue together if desired. Everything

book flower

very unusual and bright idea. Take an old thick magazine or reference book. Divide all its pages into 5 equal parts. Glue the pencil to the side. Wrap a book around a pencil so that it is in the center, glue it.

Top with white acrylic paint. cut out thick cardboard bottom, circling the pencil holder. Glue the bottom.

from wood

Or rather, not even from wood, but from wooden pencils. To do this, you just need to glue a few pencils together, forming a wall. You will need 4 such walls. At the bottom, glue the bottom of thick cardboard.

But I described the 10th pencil holder in an article about New Year's decorations. I strongly advise you to look, there are a lot of interesting ideas.

By the way, minky fleece, from which the outer green background of the first pencil holder and white totors were made, acquired here. I advise you, because it is very, very difficult to find it in woven fabrics.

To do paper pencil holder, we need to prepare 6 sheets of colored paper, it can be leaves of the same color, like mine, or vice versa, all the leaves different color. We take a sheet of colored paper and measure the width of the square, we will have it 21 * 21 centimeters. We measure and cut.

Do not fold a sheet of paper diagonally. we don't need these lines.

Bend the square along the floors, then bend both to the central fold opposite sides.

We do the same operation, but on the other side of the square.

Our square is divided into 16 small squares.

We bend the side small squares diagonally, and we get 4 triangle: in the lower right and upper corners, in the lower left and upper corners.

Bend opposite sides to the center.

We turn the workpiece over and bend the short opposite sides, and insert the resulting corners one into one.

And in the resulting window, you first need to insert paper of a contrasting color according to the size of the side of this window.

Here is the end result. Such blanks must be made 6 pieces.

We begin to glue together the resulting modules.

To make the bottom of our crafts, you need to glue the edges of the lower edge of the crucible with glue and stick it on cardboard.

When the blank is glued, cut off the excess part of the cardboard.

And you can arrange stationery-pens, markers and pencils. Our pencil box is ready.

such a craft can be presented to a future first grader, or teachers at graduation. My children will go to school in a year, but we are already thinking about gifts for our older comrades.

Thanks to everyone who has looked at my page.

paper pencil holder

Paper is a great budget craft material! The art of origami wonderfully develops baby brain is a real puzzle. There are quite a few options for paper pencil holders - from a simple quadrangular box to complex modular (consisting of several elements) variations.

Reference! modular origami, unlike the classical one, involves folding figures from several sheets of paper. Each sheet is folded into a separate element (module), then the parts are connected by gluing or inserting one into the other.

Step by step process creating a modular pencil holder of a simple design:

  • You will need 6 sheets of thick, shiny, bright, double-sided colored paper square shape(can be of different colors), scissors, glue.
  • Take one square of colored paper. Fold it in half.
  • Unfold the sheet and fold in half on the other side. Expand the sheet again.
  • Lay the edges of the sheet to the center line, press the folds. Expand sheet.
  • Opposite edges also lay to the second center line, press the folds. Expand sheet. It turned out a kind of markup for 16 equal squares.
  • Bend all four corners, laying the corner to the nearest point of intersection of the folds.
  • Lay two strips with folded corners to the center line.
  • flip rectangular figure reverse side.
  • Bend back short sides up, laying them to the center line. The result is a square with a diamond-shaped figure in the center.
  • Insert the left strip into the triangular pockets of the right until it stops to make a three-dimensional triangle.
  • Once again, press all three folds of the triangle. The first module is ready!
  • Follow the same pattern for the other five elements.
  • If desired, you can insert into the diamond-shaped window of each three-dimensional triangle a matching piece of colored paper of a different color.
  • Glue six modules together. Pencil with six compartments is ready!

Cardboard pencil case

There are quite a few models of cardboard pencil holders - from simple to real works of art.

Template option. The easiest option is to find an origami box template of the shape you like on the Internet, download, print and cut it out. Transfer the contours of the template and fold lines to cardboard, cut along the contour. Bend the template along the fold lines. The shaded parts (the so-called allowances) are smeared with glue and glued to the base.

Vintage masterpiece from cardboard tubes from paper towels

  • You will need 3-4 pieces of cardboard tubes, strong glue, scissors, a lot of decor.
  • Make tubes different in height. Cut cardboard circles of the desired diameter for the bottoms, glue the bottoms to the tubes.
  • Paste the tubes on the outside with vintage wallpaper or fabric, you can do decoupage. Decorate with roses, lace, ribbons, pearl beads.
  • Prepare a round or fantasy-shaped solid base from self-adhesive foam board. Remove the adhesive backing from the foam board. Lay the base with the adhesive side on satin material, cut off excess fabric along the contour, melt. Glue a thin knitted lace along the contour.
  • Stick the tubes bottoms on the base in different places.
  • Complement the composition with a vintage bird, a miniature in a frame, a scattering of artificial pearls!

Jar pencil holder

With regard to do-it-yourself pencil holder models from a jar, there are innumerable options!

For girls

You will need a pineapple tin, scissors, glue, decoration materials.

Paste over a tin can with pink corrugated paper or cloth. Top, bottom and center of the jar gird beautiful lace or tapes, gluing them.

Glue tracks of rhinestones or pearl beads over lace and ribbons. in the center, on front side, stick a mini-composition of cut-out lace elements, roses from satin ribbon and beads!

For boys

Paste over the jar with a shirting fabric with a pinstripe or small check print. On the front side, in the direction from top to bottom, stick a row of shirt buttons.

Cut a solid rectangle out of felt with a length equal to the circumference of the tin can - this is the collar. Glue the collar along the inner edge of the can, bend it outward. You can complement the composition with a mini-tie!

The above examples of organizers from improvised materials are just the beginning. long list possible models. Popsicle sticks, expired felt-tip pens, floppy disks, toilet paper tubes, shampoo bottles, plastic bottles- photos of various pencil holders show that the list of improvised materials can be continued indefinitely. Create, move from simple to complex, and who knows what masterpiece you can create one day!

DIY pencil holder photo

Cardboard pencil

You can make such a beautiful cardboard pencil holder with your own hands from cardboard tubes from toilet paper or paper towels, twine and pieces of felt!

Want to make one like this? Then read the step by step guide.

What you will need in the process:

Cardboard tube from under paper towels, foil or toilet paper;

A little thick cardboard (for the bottom);
. Twine or colorful yarn;
. Remains of felt;
. PVA glue;
. Paper tape.

How to work on a pencil

1. Take thick cardboard and cut a circle out of it around the circumference of the cardboard tube - see photo:

2. Attach the circle to the base of the cardboard tube with paper tape - you will get the bottom of the future pencil holder.

3. Cut out a circle from felt and glue it to the base of the cardboard tube using PVA glue. Wait a bit - let the bottom dry out, and it dries out pretty quickly.

4. We take twine or yarn and start wrapping it around the pencil holder, starting from the top. Gluing the threads is carried out using the same PVA glue.

5. You can paste over it with threads different colors- the brighter it is, the better! If you need a sharp pencil holder, use one color of yarn or garden twine.

6. Now decorate the pencil holder with a felt flower, with a stem and a leaf. The core of the flower can serve as a bright button or bead.

And when your cardboard pencil case is dry, you can safely use it, in the sense, put pencils, rulers, felt-tip pens and other stationery in it.

DIY storage box

It happens that we “transfer” small things from one place to another or do not know what, for example, to put the balls into. You can make such a cute box for this.

How to make a box for storing small things with your own hands? Yes, very simple. All you need for this is cardboard box(or better, two of the same), a glue gun or just good glue, an elastic band, a button, sewing accessories and a fabric of two colors - for the outer and interior decoration.

Operating procedure

1. Cut the box in the corners to the very bottom, and fasten the bottom with adhesive tape so that it does not fall apart - see photo.

2. Take the exterior fabric, place your cardboard blank on top and circle it, adding 1.5 cm to each side, and cut out the outlined part.

3. Lay the resulting part on the interior fabric, add 2.5 cm to each side and cut out. The second part will be larger than the previous one:

4. Now you need to sew the sides of the first part together, retreating from the edge of 1.5 cm and forming a cube. You will have a fabric case that fits your box perfectly.

5. Now let's work with the detail for interior decoration. Sew the same cube, and then bend top edges 2.5 cm and sew, leaving a small hole to insert an elastic band that will gather these edges.

Then insert the elastic and carefully sew up the hole.

6. Assemble the box by taping the sides together, or take a similar whole box (if available).

7. Put a fabric cover on the box, fold the edges of the fabric inside the box and glue them to the walls.

Insert the second cover inside the box and pull its edges over the box edges.

8. Make a flower out of leftover fabric for the outside. Just cut three strips different lengths, pick them up (the edges can be bent and stitched so as not to fray), put one on top of the other, place a button in the middle and sew the whole thing together. The flower is ready!

Glue the flower to one of the sides of the box (you can sew it in advance when the cover is not yet put on the box). And voila! Your storage box is ready!

Original do-it-yourself pencil holders

Do you want to decorate your desktop with such a pencil box? Make it with your own hands from fabric and a can (for example, from coffee).

This example uses:

Can diameter 23.5 cm and height 11.5 cm;
. Textile;
. Interlining;
. stripe soft skin or braid (for a tie);
. decorative button for decoration.

Getting Started

1. Cut out a cover for a jar. The width of the fabric is calculated as follows: add 2.5 cm to the diameter of the can. In our case, the width is 26 cm. The height of the cut will be the height of the can plus 1.25 cm - we have 12.7 cm. Do not rush to grab scissors! You need to cut out a piece of fabric 2 times as high, i.e. its height will be 25.4 cm! After all, the fabric will then fold in half.

So, we cut out a piece of fabric 26 cm wide and 25.4 cm high.

2. We cut out a piece of non-woven fabric measuring 26 x 14 cm and put it on one half of the main fabric.

3. Fold the fabric in half so that the interlining remains inside.

4. Iron the fabric so that the interlining sticks to it.

5. Unfold the fabric and draw with a pen horizontal line along the fold line.

6. Now we draw vertical lines (on the half with interlining).

7. Sew the fabric along vertical lines to the fold.

8. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, sew the side seam and iron it.

9. We turn our cover inside out, leaving a piece of fabric with interlining inside.

10. Gently stitch the top and bottom of the cover along the very edge.

The beginning is near school year and on this occasion, I prepared material for children on the manufacture of such bookmarks. The idea is not new, even in SM there is MK. I made pictures from some Japanese site. So I had to draw the diagram myself. I post my bookmarks, because I just decided to brag :)

The scheme is painted in detail, so that the child can figure it out.
1. Prepare a rectangle with overall dimensions of 85x210 (Fig. 1a) - in fact, the size can be any, depending on what you want to get the final size of the bookmark.
2. Bend the rectangle in half lengthwise and unfold (Fig. 1b)
3. Bend the upper strip (Fig. 1c, d).
4. Turn the workpiece over reverse side and bend the upper side corners to the middle line (Fig. 1e)
5. Bend again along the marked fold lines (Fig. 1e, g)
6. Turn the workpiece on the reverse side and bend the rectangle as shown in the diagram (Fig. 1h, i). The height and width of the pencil will depend on how high to bend the rectangle.
7. Once again turn the workpiece on the reverse side and bend the sides, focusing on the fold lines passing through points A and B (Fig. 1k)
8. Insert one side part into another pocket (Fig. 1l). The top edge can be glued.
9. The bookmark is ready (Fig. 1m)
