Competitions for the new year in the Soviet style. New Year's Eve at the Information Library Center. Who said that

For the New Year, this long-awaited, beloved and most magical holiday in our country, we always prepare in advance. This was the case in the Soviet Union in the 70s and 80s, and it is so now.

But still, what is the difference between how the Soviet New Year was celebrated, and how it is celebrated now? To do this, you need to return for a few minutes to the not so distant past and remember what was special and memorable on New Year's holidays in a huge country called the USSR.
New Year is a time when miracles happen, wishes come true, when we do not think about work, politics and economics, we put up with our enemies (remember the words of the song "Make peace between those who are in a quarrel"?), Sum up the outgoing and dream of the year the upcoming one, which will definitely be better than the previous one. And the soul gets warmer when you hear even from a stranger traditional new year phrase "Holiday greetings!" or "Happy New Year!"
Waiting for the New Year and preparing for it began in a couple of months due to a shortage of food in the country. Sometimes the New Year's table in the Union was collected literally bit by bit, trying to get some delicacies and goodies. It was very good to be friends with trade workers in order to know where and when something suitable for the holiday will be "thrown away".

“Electric trains smell like sausage,” - this is what they said about the trains going from Moscow to other cities of the Soviet Union at that time. Because only in the capital of our homeland it was possible to buy worthy products for the festive table. But even in Moscow for New Year's delicacies there were queues up to the length of an apartment building (no exaggeration!). And having defended them, our parents received in one hand a small but cherished piece of smoked sausage or a jar of Yantar cheese. Even ordinary green pea for Olivier on the New Year's table in the USSR it was sometimes difficult to get it, so the menu for the Soviet New Year was drawn up in advance.
Nowadays, everything you need can be bought even on December 31, although some products are even sorted out in large supermarkets. And here there is a minus - a crowd of people in stores.
Pickles and marinades were harvested since summer, and those who did not have a summer cottage and the ability to spin several jars on their own were bought at the market from collective farmers and villagers. Many products, for example, meat grown on their own farm, were obtained through neighbors and acquaintances, by word of mouth.
What was then prepared for the Soviet New Year's table? The signature dish was meat or chicken with mashed potatoes, as an option, with baked potatoes, salads - olivier, herring under a fur coat, mimosa, carrot and beetroot with garlic, stuffed eggs, sprats, pickles, pork leg jelly and jellied fish. They were served in crystal vases, which are now not found in all families.

Someone managed to get a box of Assorti sweets, bananas and tangerines, a jar of canned pineapples, sometimes red and black caviar, cervelat got on the table. These are traditions, and then everything depended on the culinary abilities of the hostess. From drinks - "Soviet" champagne and "Stolichnaya" vodka, lemonade and dried fruit compote.

New delicious New Year's recipes were passed from notebook to notebook from work colleagues or a neighbor. The same dishes remained with us for the New Year, but now almost everyone has seafood, exotic fruits and berries, fresh vegetables and herbs, dozens of types of meat and cheese cuts. Martini has become a traditional New Year's drink for many girls. Someone eats in new year's eve sushi, and someone pizza - desires are limited only by financial capabilities.

The wonderful smell of spruce hung with the most beautiful toys and flashing garlands, the incomparable aroma of bright orange tangerines, new Year's parties and meeting with friends who have not been seen for a whole year, because then there was no Internet, Santa Claus, Snow Maiden and gifts, letters from greeting cards, sparklers and firecrackers - these are probably the most significant memories of the New Year in the Soviet Union.

Buy an artificial tree or choose live spruce, the question was not, who like it, but christmas toys Soviet times were very smart. Then the kids did not know that christmas decorations there are unbreakable, plastic and bad smelling ones. Made in accordance with GOST, from real glass, colorful and incredibly beautiful, they were distinguished by a wide variety.

What kind of figurines were not hung on the Soviet Christmas tree! Santa Clauses and Snow Maidens, snowmen, characters of various fairy tales, vegetables, fruits, animals, birds and fish, fragile icicles and outlandish lanterns, glass beads have been passed down from generation to generation. At that time, no one had a desire to create a design masterpiece in the European style and decorate the New Year tree with balls and bows of the same color. Decorating the tree was a little family happiness!

Modern silicone snowflakes are molded onto glass with one movement of the hand and are also removed without traces. And on New Year's in the Soviet style, the house was decorated with paper-cut snowflakes and sculpted on the windows. soapy water... Did paper garlands, glued flashlights from postcards and other lovely crafts of that time.

If today buying a gift for the New Year becomes a problem because of the wealth of choice, then the presents were chosen literally out of nothing. Remembering the "Irony of Fate" wonderful gift perfumery was considered, especially french perfume, which then became a household name for any good perfume.

Children received gifts at matinees at school or kindergarten, and Santa Claus and Snow Maiden brought home surprises for the kids. It is now possible to order such a service at any agency for organizing holidays, and on New Year's Eve, in Soviet times, this was done by the trade union. For the role fairytale characters especially talented employees were selected and sent along with a large, red bag of gifts, bought in advance by the parents, to the indicated addresses. Usually this action took place on December 29-30. The child stood on a chair near the decorated Christmas tree, told Santa Claus a rhyme, and for this he received what he had dreamed of for a whole year. Trade union organizations, schools or kindergartens also provided children with sweet gifts (with good chocolates, not imported dragees!). And the obligatory gift was from the present, never discovered by any child, Santa Claus, found in the morning under the tree.

All the holidays were Christmas trees with performances, competitions and round dances. As now, children were dressed up in carnival costumes, but their mothers sewed them with their own hands according to patterns from magazines. Only the masks of various animals were in abundance. There was not such a variety of decor, creepy spider-people and monsters that modern boys dream of becoming for one day, and everything looked very cute and touching.

If now the question of what to wear to a New Year's party stands before the girls in the context of how not to get lost in the diversity of the proposed, how to hide the belly in clothes and full thighs, to pick up a thing to suit your face, then in Soviet times this was not the case. This can come today to a huge shopping center and spend the whole day there, handing over the kids to a cheerful clown and, along the way, refreshed with something delicious in a couple of cafes. IN USSR beautiful dresses they sewed themselves, gave them to dressmakers, bought from speculators "under the counter", without even thinking about whether the size of "foreign clothes" would fit.

The most important entertainment on New Year's Eve was the TV, then still black and white. The whole family and guests gathered for him. Despite the fact that there were few TV channels, the program was always interesting. "The Irony of Fate", " Carnival Night”, Congratulations from the General Secretary, chimes,“ Blue Light ”with famous artists - all this has been so awaited for a whole year and watched with pleasure!

After the chiming clock, everyone went for a walk, visit or stayed to watch programs under the cozy flashing of colorful garlands. Dances, music, general fun began. Putting on masks and wrapping themselves in tinsel, taking with them sweets and firecrackers (a prototype of firecrackers), people met at the Christmas tree, where they continued to celebrate.

Many people remember this holiday with nostalgia for the good old Soviet times. After all, as you celebrate the New Year, so you will spend it, this tradition remains with us regardless of the country in which we live.
Happy New Year's Eve to you!

Today it is very fashionable to have themed parties. We invite you to plunge into the past and spend new Year in the style of the USSR ... We will tell a story, show a photo, offer a script and a menu, select clothes and funny contests.

Before arranging new year in the style of the USSR , you need to remember the history, how it was, how it all began.

New Year in the style of the USSR: history

New Year in the USSR was somewhat different than today, more general. If you had the opportunity on New Year's Eve to visit several hundred apartments scattered throughout the Union, you would be amazed at how equally the holiday is celebrated everywhere. Everyone who remembers how the New Year was celebrated in the USSR knows this atmosphere. general holiday, the smell of tangerines on the balcony, optimistic programs on TV, Russian salad and chocolates on the Christmas trees.

Officially, the tradition of celebrating the New Year was returned to Soviet citizens only in 1935, and became widespread only 20 years later. After all, January 1 became a day off only in 1947, and only then did the inhabitants of the USSR have the opportunity to properly celebrate on New Year's Eve. And since an indispensable attribute of any holiday in soviet times had a rich table, to truly celebrate most of the citizens Soviet Union became only when the card system was finally canceled, and stores appeared enough products and - New Year's food sets!

Besides, New Year in the USSR is, in fact, a city holiday. This is understandable: for villager that December 31, that January 1 is nothing from others winter days they do not differ. If it was possible to refuse to perform the obligatory daily rural work, it was not for the sake of an annual holiday - but only for a much rarer occasion, for example, for the sake of a wedding or the birth of a child.

Therefore, it is possible to speak about the Soviet tradition of celebrating the New Year only since the early 1960s, when the share of the urban population in the country exceeded the share of the rural population. In addition, it was in the 60s, with the beginning of the Khrushchev "thaw", that the right to privacy and private holidays began not only to be recognized, but also to enter the official ideology. And the stream of young specialists, which poured into the formerly purely rural areas of the country to build new cities and factories, brought with it the urban tradition of celebrating the New Year.

New Year in the style of the USSR: traditions

The first main tradition is "Blue Light" ... Since 1964, it has become an annual New Year's program, and for twenty years it was songs and jokes from this TV show that accompanied the Soviet New Year's holiday.

The second tradition is the film "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath". The comedy of Eldar Ryazanov was not only strongly associated with New Year's Eve (it was shown every year, only the time of the show's start changed), but itself served as a source of some traditions of decorating a house for the New Year.

New Year in the style of the USSR: menu

The third tradition was grocery set for the New Year's table - the so-called "order". Since the heyday of the nationwide celebration of the New Year came in the mid-70s with their beginning deficit, the main source of products were "orders" that were issued at the workplace (by the way, such sets were issued almost exclusively in cities, which also worked to consolidate the image of the New year as a purely urban holiday).

Traditionally, the "order" consisted of one or two jars of sprat, a box chocolates, a bottle of "Soviet Champagne", a loaf of boiled-smoked or uncooked smoked sausage, a pack of Indian tea "with an elephant", "Lemon Slices" and sometimes a jar of red caviar. At the same time, tangerines began to be perceived as a purely New Year's delicacy: the USSR received the bulk of these fruits in the form of export deliveries from Morocco, where the main harvest ripens in November-December.

New Year in the style of the USSR: photo

However, it is worth getting better: perhaps the earliest New Year tradition - not new, but revived - was the custom to put a live fir tree in the house for the New Year. After the anti-religious campaign of the late 1920s and early 1930s, it was only in 1935 that the Soviet government again began to propagate this custom. Since the trees for sale were specially grown, they were also a relative scarcity, and therefore they were bought at the first opportunity, and not at convenient time... A common picture, for example, in Moscow were people who, one and a half to two weeks before the New Year, were carrying Christmas trees tied with twine, bought on the occasion, in the subway.

And of course, the famous phrase can be attributed to the New Year traditions of the USSR times “Here is a gift (food, souvenirs, etc.), but this is for the New Year!”. All the same total deficit taught Soviet citizens that they need to buy what they need not on the eve of a holiday, but when the opportunity comes along, it is better to let it lie down. Food was stored in the refrigerator or on the balcony, things were stored in cupboards or storage rooms, and Christmas trees were hung outside the window or on the same balcony. Almost all family members knew what would be given to whom for the holiday, but this did not diminish their joy: the very opportunity to receive new thing!

New Year in the style of the USSR: how it was

... The final credits of "The Irony of Fate" are floating on the TV screen, the champagne is sent to be cooled outside the window or in the refrigerator, vases with the indispensable Olivier salad (quickly, satisfyingly and almost without using scarce products!), "Custom-made" sprats and sausage are placed on the table. A few minutes later the doorbell rings: these are the first guests. Surely they brought with them a jar or two of salad for the New Year's table or homemade pies: the table, put together, was also a Soviet New Year's tradition. As, in fact, the custom of celebrating the New Year with a friendly company: few could boast of their own large apartment in those years, as well as the opportunity to set a rich table alone, so the holiday was celebrated in a wide friendly circle - it was both more convenient and simpler.

After the feast, many companies went out into the street, going for a walk or just in the yard - to take a break from the feast in the interval between hot and sweet. Often, companies began to roam on different floors of the house: often high-rise buildings were departmental or belonged to enterprises, and most residents knew each other well from their joint work. Children by this time usually had already gone to bed: although January was the time of New Year's school holidays, the children were not allowed to stay up after midnight.

New Year in the style of the USSR: children's Christmas trees

Oh, yes, about schoolchildren! .. As traditional as Olivier and tangerines, were New Year's "trees" - theatrical performances for schoolchildren, held from mid-December to mid-January in city recreation centers. The level of performances depended on what kind of artists the organizers could find, but the most important pleasure from visiting the "Christmas tree" were gifts - pastry sets, packed in elegant cardboard boxes... The best and most important "Christmas tree" was considered the one that was held in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses. Tickets for it were practically not available for sale, but were distributed among the enterprises, going to the managers and foremost workers of production. The level of the performance on this "Christmas tree" was the highest, and the gifts were the richest: every year new unique plastic packaging was made for them, often representing approximate copies of the Kremlin towers.

But other “trees” also delighted children no less - primarily because of the gifts. By the way, children often got only a part of the goodies from the set, and the most best candy parents saved it until New Year's Eve.

Probably precisely because the New Year was the most a common holiday (except perhaps for Victory Day, but it began to be celebrated only since 1965), people of the older generation still remember it with nostalgia. Those who were schoolchildren during the late stagnation remember well the joyful foreboding that filled the New Year's days.

After all, it was not just a holiday - it was also an opportunity to taste rare dishes on other days, to receive some new item as a gift, and finally, just to chat with friends without any political overtones - not like May 1 or November 7! Even Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev's New Year's televised address or “on behalf of the Central Committee of the CPSU, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Soviet government” was perceived only as a preface to the chimes that announced the approach of midnight - and the New Year, the most desired and free holiday ...

Retro style is relevant not only in clothing and in interior design. This trend has also affected the event niche. Many events are held with a retro theme, from weddings to children's birthdays. A corporate party is by no means an exception. Mark corporate event in retro style - this is, as they say, fashionable, stylish and youthful.

In a broad sense, the retro period covers a large temporal layer, affecting different trends both in the USSR and abroad, in this article we will only touch on the general atmosphere of the 50-60s without delving into specific trends (for example, the style of dudes). To recreate just an era on your holiday is in itself extremely interesting and exciting!

  1. Corporate party in the style of the USSR from A to Z.
  2. Stylish corporate party
  3. Corporate in Chicago style - gangster fun! ...
  4. Corporate party in the style of the 90s.

We invite you to the past

To maintain the style, it is advisable to arrange invitations in the form of distinctive attributes of the retro era:

It is important to observe the smallest details typical for the design of correspondence in those years: wide frames, rounded edges, perforation, soft pastel shades: pink, mint green, aquamarine. It is recommended to keep the text of the invitation in a patriotic style: like: “Comrade N! The party invites you to visit the ceremonial gathering timed to the New Year (or anniversary, depending on the time of the corporate party) of the leading enterprise X ".

The text must be typed or written calligraphic handwriting - no printed type, because in the retro era there was no trace of it!

Entrance only for stylish

In terms of the dress code, a corporate party in a retro style assumes a wide revelry of imagination. Style elements of those years are still actively used by designers, so choose spectacular image will not be difficult. Representatives of the fair sex can try on the image of a Soviet coquette, with fleece, huge crescent earrings and a dress with polka dots. If this role seems too commonplace, you can choose a number of other hypostases:

  1. Pioneer Red tie and garrison cap are required attributes. By adding them to the traditional white top, black bottom office set, you can special efforts get to the point.
  2. "Mymra". This role will suit not notorious young ladies with a sense of humor. Copy the image of the notorious Lyudmila Prokofievna from “ Office romance" just - formal suit there is for sure, and the rest will be done by horn-rimmed glasses and varnished hair.
  3. Production striker. The goal is to copy the appearance of the girls from the covers of the retro magazines "Krestyanka" or "Rabotnitsa". A chintz dress, hair tucked under a headscarf - and you are on a horse!
  4. Men also have a lot to choose from. You can boggle the imagination of your colleagues by dressing up in the style of a Soviet student. An illustrative example for copying is Gaidaevsky Shurik. Look in your wardrobe for a plaid shirt, trousers that you grew up from and hipster glasses - and the image of a movie hero is ready. Another win-win option is the retro-duck. A red plaid jacket or a plain velor jacket, pipe trousers, lacquered boots and a bright-colored shirt are the hallmarks of the image.

The corporate party begins ... with confetti

The ceremony of welcoming guests should be pompous, in the best traditions entertainment activities previous years. Confetti, firecrackers, red carpet, as when meeting diplomats - guests should feel that the holiday begins from the very first minutes. An interesting solution will install an old jukebox at the entrance.

You can organize a playful registration with guests, like a conference or symposium. A registration point is set up at the entrance, followed by a pretty secretary who checks the invitations and enters the guests on the registration sheet. Each invitee is given a badge in the form of an order or company logo.

If the budget of the event allows, it is a good idea to organize the delivery of guests to the venue of the corporate party in retro cars.

Where to go?

For organizing a corporate party, in principle any will do banqueting hall, but if possible, it is better to choose rooms decorated in retro style or with elements of it. This can be either a canteen in a former research institute or an expensive restaurant. The main thing is that the premises correspond to the main idea of \u200b\u200bthe event.

A more creative option is to celebrate a corporate party on a boat or… on a bus! Nowadays, scenarios for outdoor events are popular, when a bus with guests runs along the route, at each point of which a buffet is served and some element of the show program is prepared: a performance by musicians, dances, fireworks, photo session, etc. The trip ends with a banquet in a cafe or a picnic at fresh air... Speaking of picnics: an open-air corporate party can also be a good option in the warm season. Especially if the event is held in a pioneering style.

The spirit of the era is in the details

If you lean towards traditional options and decide to hold a corporate party indoors, its setting should not be out of the scope of the event's theme. There are many elements to help you reflect the style of the era:

  • lamps with fabric shades;
  • floor lamps;
  • hanging disco balls;
  • waffle towels;
  • shelves with books of the Soviet edition;
  • tube TVs;
  • white homespun tablecloths.

In the 50-60s, expensive porcelain dishes were in short supply, so there were no modern sets - only modest plates with "skirts" around the edges and faceted glasses for drinks. The table setting, which is ascetic by modern standards, is diluted with bouquets of fresh flowers.

sauerkraut;
marinated mushrooms;

What to listen to and see?

At an event with such a theme, there must be music corresponding to the era of that time. You probably want to organize dance competitions, which means that the choice of performers must be taken very seriously. To begin with, we propose to invite singers and musicians to a corporate party. Thanks to this, you can save yourself the need to search for retro songs on your own. However, if the desire to arrange everything on your own takes over, then we advise you to pay attention to something like Foxtrot and Charleston. Tango will also be in place.

And in order to lay the first brick in your playlist, we suggest including the following compositions in its composition:

From the films, you can pay attention to the pictures "Tractor Drivers", "Counter", "Youth of Maxim", "Pilots" and "Funny Guys".

Retro entertainment

From entertainment for a retro corporate party, the most suitable and appropriate to the style will be:

  • performance of a cover of the group with the performance of old songs;
  • circus performance (circus as entertainment was very popular in Soviet times);
  • karaoke (almost all retro songs soviet years are widely known and corporate parties will be happy to perform them all together).

However, no one cancels the show of performances, DJs, artists, illusionists ... everything to the taste and desires of the collective.

A small list of contests that you can immediately adopt:

  • You can spend fun competition hairstyles. And among men too. Prepare hairpins, hairsprays, and rubber bands. In the game, make nominations like "Soviet hippie", "member of the government", "early in the morning", etc. It will be fun!
  • The competition for best dance in retro style. And it could be the best female dance, masculine and doubles. Optionally, you can choose the king and queen of your event.
  • Conduct a competition "What did you sing in the past?" It will be great if the participants split into teams. And the winner will be the one who remembers the most songs.
  • The karaoke competition will not be superfluous. Surely all colleagues will gladly help the soloist during the performance.
  • Very useful for any event outdoor games... Run a Clear Stash competition for men. Employees will be able to find out which of them is best able to hide part of the salary from the wife on the subject "to sit in the evening with friends."
  • Collect a collection of retro songs and play Guess the Melody. A very gambling competition for the knowledge of the compositions of the past decades.

Retro corporate the best way have a great time and delve into the history of our country, refreshing your knowledge or memories. We, in turn, sincerely wish you to succeed. Let your holiday meeting will pleasantly delight all employees and will be remembered by them for many years!

  1. Determine who will be responsible for the preparation of the corporate party (one or several people, if several, determine who will be in charge) and distribute the tasks according to this list.
  2. Make a list of participants. Who can come? (You need to know how many people to count on).
  3. Determine the date and time of the corporate party.
  4. Determine the budget that you are ready to spend on a corporate event (the solution of all subsequent issues will largely depend on this amount)
  5. Distribute roles between participants (who plans to be in what image)
  6. Find a studio for renting suits and give each employee a memo with addresses and phone numbers (this way you can avoid excuses like "I didn't know where to find a suit ...")
  7. Decide where you intend to hold a corporate event (restaurant, office, yacht, suburban complex, and so on). To solve this issue easier, leave a request on the site indicating that an oriental-style corporate party is planned, for sure, sites specializing in oriental cuisine will answer you, which means that the design questions are off your shoulders.
  8. What dishes should be on your table? Who prefers what?
  9. Consider the issue of transportation and delivery of guests home
  10. Decide who will decorate the room. If you plan to do everything on your own, decide on the decoration elements, it is best that they be ready at least 1 week before the event. If you rely on the experience of professionals, leave a request on the site, you will be offered not only design options, but also demonstrate the already existing decoration elements. You will be able to choose the best performer in terms of quality and price.
  11. Consider the entertainment part. Which contests and competitions attract your employees and which ones do not? Use our contests section to quickly solve this problem.

The program of the evening "I live in the USSR" includes a show of video clips, games, competitions, a disco of the 80s. Give the correct answer: who is this? ..-

(Snow Maiden!)

The little gray coward bunny was jumping under the Christmas tree,

And an angry wolf walked by - he took away the rope.

Since then, all the wolves rush through the forest only at a gallop,

And the hares crawl sadly, well, how can it be - even cry!

And at night they dream that Grandfather Frost

On New Year's Eve, he brought them a rope as a gift.

Little gray coward bunny under the herringbone galloped

And he rammed snowflakes with his frozen paws.

He danced a gypsy girl, made a cancan

And the frostbitten ear touched a steel trap.

But then "Green Peace" arrived from night to dawn

Rang promptly on the number "zero three".

And again a gray hare runs under the Christmas tree,

And the one who touched the bunny lies damp in the ground.

I admire in christmas ball,

Tying cords to it,

I'm not so beautiful in life

I don't have such cheeks.

I happen to be instead of a ball,

When decorated the tree,

I hung Sharik on a twig ...

Sharik rocked and growled.

Dad left for the tree

And it still does not exist.

Although it has since flown by

Fifteen happy years.

Santa Claus on New Year's Eve

Lined up the children:

"Ivanov, two steps forward!

Get some milk froth! "

"Why, Grandpa," Ivanov howled.

I listened to mom and dad.

I behaved so well at the table,

That the other day I bitten myself to death. "

"Conversations in the ranks," shouted Frost.

You know too many words.

You are too curious, Ivanov.

I don't like you, Ivanov. "
